Bird poop on door handle!

I woke yesterday morning and I had bird poop splattered on the center of my driver side door handle...I couldn't believe it landed right on the door handle, as it was ironic as I never even usually get bird poop on the car at all.

It was only on the middle of the handle, so I was able to open the door without touching it at all.

Last night it rained and it's completely off the door handle, which is pretty awesome...Although I'm still worried about any germs or potential diseases being spread on there?

What would be the best to use to disinfect my door handle? Can I use lysol or chlorox disinfecting wipes? Are these safe to use on the car? Or just a sponge and car wash soap? I want to make sure non of the poop is still on there.

Thanks!

Brad

Alcohol on a soft towel will get any bird diseases off of it and won't hurt your paint.

Rubbing alcohol is safe for paint?

A good old car wash with soap and water will do the trick but if your really worried about any diseases then use a towel with rubbing alcohol like BB stated above and that should sanitize your door handle.

Hydrochloric acid should kill all the germs. Just need to throw a nice coat of wax on it after.

It's what detailers use to wipe down a car to remove all products and residues down to a virgin finish. It's 110% safe.

Nice try but sealent works much better in tandem with hydrochloric acid, everyone and their mother knows the carnuba in the wax reduces the burning sensation of the acid.

Oh no! Call CDC right away, you don't want to start a bird flu outbreak and kill us all. And the car has to be set on fire now that there was bird crap on it.

I would wash the entire area with straight bleach and then sand the spot with 200 grit sand paper to make sure any remaining poop has been removed from the pores of the plastic handle. OP should wear safety glasses, rubber gloves, and and throw away coveralls. This is an extremely serious situation deserving extraordinary caution. This same approach can be used to remove disease carrying bug splatters from the front bumper.

Take the vehicle back to Infiniti and have the door handle replaced under warranty.

Erik, go look at his thread history. He's not a troll, he's nuts. It took his last thread for me to recognize the nonsense.

Poor guy.
