G Down :(
Go to the doctor first thing in the morning and don't sign any insurance releases until you are absolutely sure you don't have any lasting pain. Your neck is far more important than your car. My wife was hit 25 years ago....and still suffers neck problems. The $37,000 she received has not been adequate compensation for the pain.
Thank you guys for your sympathies. It's just very frustrating as I finally had built the car more or less how I wanted it.
I did go to urgent care last night for the neck pain and they confirmed I had whiplash but nothing more serious.
@FourT2 that's a good point about the diminished value compensation. I hadn't even considered it, this is my first accident like this. I'll check into that with my claims person tomorrow.
@awais there's more front end damage because initially he just pushed me and my car sort of ricocheted off of his. The damage in front came when he slammed me into a brand new Acura RDX and I collided with that car

If you didn't have an MRI, you may not know if you have disc injuries. X-Rays can show herniated discs, but it takes some special observations to notice it, and I don't think that urgent care is equipped to read them in that manner, assuming they did x-rays on you. Follow up with your primary care physician and see an orthopedic spine surgeon or specialist for an MRI to rule out long term damage. The key here is to protect yourself in the event you need to file a lawsuit. You will need a long paper trail showing continued treatment for a long period of time. I truly hope you are ok and that all you have is whiplash; however, assume the worst in this case because doing otherwise can cost you alot in the long term.
I had spine surgery twice already, and need it a third time, as well as fusion, though I'm trying to hold off as long as I can. It's pretty painful and pretty much ruined my entire life because some idiot was driving with bad brakes. He blew through a red light and I t-boned him, got thrown into the s/b lane and was t-boned myself. I guess I'm lucky that there were plenty of people around, because I was ready to drag the other driver out of his car and beat the living **** out of him. The intersection is setup in such a way that you can't see traffic coming from the direction he was driving until they are already in the intersection.
By the way, I just got a '10 G37x last week, so I joined the board.
Good luck.

Having been in this situation before, be wary of herniated (bulging, slipped) discs in your neck and spine. I was in a car accident a few years ago, more serious than yours and ended up getting 3 herniated discs in my back and 2 in my neck. The fallout from herniated discs isn't necessarily noticed right away.

I would also strongly suggest that you find a good personal injury attorney, with "good" being the operative word here. The consultation shouldn't cost you anything, and they will be honest with you regarding your situation. If they think there's a case, they will pursue it, at no cost to you. You'll sign a contract with them indicating that they will get 1/3 of any award given to you. If you get nothing, you pay nothing. That's the standard operating procedure.
Again, this is all about protecting yourself. Doing nothing will guarantee that you get nothing. I got a good attorney, even though at the time I didn't know I had some bad injuries to my spine requiring multiple surgeries. In the end, what I got was a joke settlement because NYS allows 25/50 insurance, which is far too low. With my injuries, my attorney said I should have gotten ten times that, easily. The other driver was a piece of ****, who had nothing.
I will be in pain for the rest of my life, and be unable to do many of the things I used to be able to do. Picking up my daughters is painful. My job has suffered and I am unable to do overtime, severely limiting my ability to make money, which will impact the rest of my life and my earning potential. Think about that while you pursue what I said above.

Weapon X, so sorry to hear all the pain you've gone through, really a shame
Nice to see that you're offering help to others, hope your situation improves.
ap0c0lypt1c, sure hope you start feeling better, sounds like you'd better take it real easy and some good advice seems to be coming your way. Best of luck in the weeks ahead.

Yeah I'm researching the attorney thing right now. I'm just wondering if I can wait to see what offer they give me, and if its not to my liking, couldn't I hire an attorney then? I don't like the idea of committing to give up 1/3 of my settlement. The guy who hit me is rich and likely has good insurance so hopefully his limit will be enough.
I just started physical therapy today and while there are no long term injuries found so far, it will still take a couple of months to restore my body back to how it was.

I don't think I've ever heard of a case where an insurance company made a fair initial offer and I doubt there is one. They will come in with a low amount, hoping you accept it. Having representation will protect you in that you will never need to speak with their lawyers (recorded phone calls, contracts, etc.), where one slip of the tongue can end your case before it even begins. While speaking to them, they will try to get you to say something that can be used against you. Having a lawyer will stop that.
Fight lawyers with lawyers. The fact that the policy holder is rich means that the insurance company will fight harder because they have more to lose. They are in it to protect themselves, not you and not their policy holder. The less they give you, the better it is for them and their shareholders.
