Sorry about that, buddy. All I can say is, if someone bothers to say why they don't like something, then it's only right to explain the reasons without being a d1ck about it. (Still working on that second part.)

I suspect it would add to the process if I were to see it in person. Although I have no idea whether that would be good or bad.

 

I wonder if the 3M promoter is similar to the 3M 94 Primer, I just used the primer on my last vinyl grill wrap and it really made that vinyl stick w/ about 3x the force.

That's the main reason I haven't done the roof spoiler, I've heard that the fit is tough to get 100% right (even the top brand names), and the double sided tape doesn't hold it completely tight over time. Maybe the 3M promoter would be just the final piece to get everything fitting, and staying, just right.

I do like the subtle look, I think it would be a nice combo w/ the F&R OEM spoilers.

I used this one on my rear diffuser and I can say, that thing is not coming off without using an extreme amount of force.

An adhesion promoter or primer is most commonly a resin system in a solvent-based carrier and is used to alter the surface characteristics of a substrate prior to tape application. This surface alteration enhances, or in some instances creates a modified surface for bonding with a particular pressure sensitive adhesive. Adhesion promoters are most often used to raise the substrate surface energy of low surface energy plastics such as TPO, PP, PPO, PC, ABS and other plastic blends/alloys, allowing for increased short and long-term adhesion levels of 3M acrylic foam tape adhesives.

3M™ Adhesion Promoter 2262AT is specifically formulated to be used with 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tapes for automotive applications. The adhesion promoter should be dry before applying the tape. For best results, apply tape within one hour after primer application. Be sure the primed surface remains free from contaminants prior to tape lamination.


I've researched and found that majority of people who installed either roof or trunk spoilers didn't use the promoter...either decided not to (like in my case) or didn't receive any within their kits.
I've read that some had no problems with the supplied 3M dbl-sided tape and other just wouldn't stay adhered to the either the spoiler or the vehicle.

I installed a similar type of spoiler on my FX and it held up without any incidents...no promoter, just 3M dbl-sided tape.



I'm hoping that mine will be fine.

yes, it's the same Ebay one but I purchased it well over a year ago and finally installed it about a week ago. BTW my wife didn't like it but she prefers OEM .

My next change is to swap the chrome trunk piece for body-colored.

 

If there was an OEM one by Infiniti, I would have considered it too!

I think for an inexpensive product from China, it's not bad as far as quality & fitment... it's only a roof wing spoiler.

As I mentioned, this spoiler doesn't look off from the Infiniti rear lip spoiler and goes well with it.
