a really inexpensive mod that makes a genuine difference: reverse the shift direction of your automatic in manual mode. if you can just swap the pin spots its free other you need some heatshrink and splice barrels or you could solder the wires back together.

Replace the license plate bulbs with LEDs from DiodeDynamics. I can't remember the price I paid for them but they were inexpensive.

el cheapo rearview mirror mount for passport 9500ix -
I ended up using that exact DIY to make my mount before a friend bought me a real one. I also made my own invisicord from an old phone line i found around the house using this DIY

Great idea! They are intuitively reversed. I let a friend test drive my car hard and he ended up shifting the wrong way. Done it myself too, but I usually use the paddles.

I love this idea! Question: For heat considerations, did you use a particular type of primer & paint (engine enamel or such)?

Thanks. And no, all I did was clean the area to be painted, then wipe it down with a grease remover. After what seemed like hours of frustratingly detailed masking, I went over it with primer, then paint; neither of which were specifically high-temp.

Time will tell, I suppose. For the first day or two, it might seem soft, but it's quite hardened now, and I'm no longer gentle with it. Seems totally fine.

I used rattle cans from LOWES. Valspar... neat swivel cap design, and a fine spray dispersion. Truth is, I need to do some detail touch-ups around the channel edge in the front. I went with gold in the channel, and in highsight it should be black. Also, as I said before, there's something not entirely right about it when installed in the engine bay. It's interesting looking, but somehow a little too Hot Wheels looking, if you can relate to that.

Interesting thread, will certainly keep checking

Can anyone recommend license plate LEDs that are 'pure' white and not much brighter than OEM brightness (if possible)?

Cheap Mod

Here is a real cheap mod. I wanted to light up my cup holder and used a simple non blinking tea candle ~$3.00. It fit perfectly in the U at the back of the cup holder. You can also use Velcro to install it on the lip. If you put it in the U at the back of the cup holder you need to remove it if you close the top.

An inexpensive mod that can add a little personalization to a an engine bay is to maintain a color theme through your connections and caps. I've got the blue engine cover, I got an anodized radiator cap on order for <$15, I'm looking for a matching blue anodized oil cap, and there's a plan to replace my CAI black silicone connectors with blue silicone connectors. I also got DiodeDynamic's Blue LED conversion for everywhere in the interior. There's also the VMS washers mentioned earlier.

Wow. Careful you don't get too carried away there.

Hey, GoFightNguyen, there's an engine bay thread over here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/body-in...ay-thread.html

Take some pics of your work and show it off. I'd like to see what you're doing.
