Front Doors vs Rear Doors
Front Doors vs Rear Doors
Hi, I have a 2012 G37 Journey Sedan.
I have been opening the rear doors more often now and notice that they are lighter and seem more hollow than the two front door. Everytime I close the door, it doesn't seem as study and heavy as the driver door. Does anyone else experience this too? Or is it just my car?
Thanks.

Actually the front doors also feel light and crappy to me...especially compared to BMW, Acura, and even a Hyundai Sonata. Just watch the lower part of the door flex when slamming shut. Overall I feel the car is put together fairly well, but the doors have always been surprisingly light and cheap feeling for a near-luxury car. Toyota suffers from this also....so I suspect its a Japanese thing.
The front doors have 10" bose subwoofers, insulation, and larger front windows & door panels making them obviously heavier than the rear doors. If the rears, or any of the doors seem light or cheap, you can always remove the panels and apply dynamat or other type of sound deadening material to them. I've read it makes a night and day difference on the interior quietness of our cars.
