Front end swap vs. wheels and tires.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to see which you would choose. I know everyones opinion will be different for their own reasons, but I was just curious.

I have an 09 sedan. I have the time and money for only one of the above options. I could either do wheels and tires, or I could do a front end swap to a 2010+ sport. Which would you do if you could only do 1?! Or would you do something else? dun Dun DUNNNN..(sorry it felt right)

Eventually down the road I'll end up with both, but not for a couple years because i'm a poor graduate student haha.

I vote wheels/tires. Run the 09 front for a few more years then switch it up to the 10+ sport. Front end gets rock chips and dings all the time, so swapping it later on will make it look more like a new car again if you plan to keep it long term.

I would probably do a front end swap. If you have enough to lower the car as well, I would do wheels and tires + drop.

Yep, get the wheels/tires, then a couple years down the road remove tires, sell 09, get a 2013, remove ugly 2013 stockers and put balla wheels from your 09 on the 2013, best plan IMO (then you'll have a "true" 2013 worth much more than an 09 w/ the updated front end).

Honestly, if I were you and I didn't have the '09 sport bumper then I would do the front end swap, I can't stand the non-sport front bumper on the '09's, however, if you do have the sport bumper then I would do the wheels and tires first.

I have the non-s bumper and i agree. its kind of an eye-sore to look at, but then again the non-s 17in wheels arent gonna complement a new 2010 sport front either...oh decisions decisions

Sounds like you answered your question for yourself. If you do the front end swap it won't look right with 17's. the same can't be said for wheels and tires first.

I always felt Paneraiguy did a good job with his non sport bumper.

Understood
Nothing wrong w/ driving it 'til it's all but dead, much smarter than what I do for the most part
Getting a front chin spoiler gives it a sportier look, not as exciting as the 2010+ front but not bad

A bumper and headlight swap is only going to be something you notice when you approach the car, but lightweight rims and high-performance, summer-only tires are something you will notice every time you drive it.

Everyone has different priorities, but Go > Show for most people (here), I think. And when it comes to rims, you can compromise on a little of both for a win/win.

Either way, it's a big chunk of change.

Exactly.

Wouldn't it be about the same if not cheaper to trade yours in for a 2010? Especially with the Q50 right around the corner you should be able to get a decent deal on one.

Why not save up more and do both at the same time, so you do not have this dilemma.. ?
Just a thought I guess.

You didnt say what kind of rims. I assume if its around the cost of the front end swap, then you're talking something along the line of Vossen or Forgiato or some other high end brand maybe staggered 20"? I would go for the rim & tire package. Believe it or not, a lot of people cant tell the difference between 07-09 and the 2010 and up G sedans unless you point the details out, or have them side by side. Just get the wheels, and hope somebody crashes your front end, then you can upgrade for free. The conversion would look awful with the stock 17" rims, however big wheels make anything look better. Well, almost anything lol.

Wheels first, who know maybe by the time your ready for the front conversion the next generation G front fascia might fit the current layout. Then you'll have more options.
