Do you have to drive this car a certain way? Horrible MPG...
The G37 is not really sensitive to driving styles. I've tried both end the best I can, didn't see much of a differences. The big 6 is not like the little turbo 4 many cars have that makes night-and-day difference depends on how you drive it. If you do a lot of short trips, it is normal to see it below 20, winter gas, and the cold weather the northeast is seeing these days also played a huge role of significantly lowering your mpg by at least 10%.
As far as turbo 4s it depends, on the car my evo x mr only gets around 240 miles on a tank.
Driving ultra slow I avg 18hwy / 12 city.
Boost eats fuel. If I get on it single digits.
I got a buddy always complaining about having to run premium in his BMW but spends over a $100.00 a month on smokes.
I run 93 only and get an average of about 23.5 mpg. Highway mpg is pretty good around 28.5-29.
My brother usually runs 91/93 in his 335i but did a trial run of 87 for a couple weeks. He got about 30 miles LESS out of the tank with 87 on average.
so 93 cost 3.96 and 87 cost 3.66 (.30)X16=$4.80 (atlanta prices) but got approx 30 more miles out of the fill up which equals about a little over a gallon of gas. 1.1 gallons X 3.66 = 4.02 -(4.80)difference between 87 and 93 per fill up so actual savings are $.78 per fill up. He just runs 91/93 now.

DO THE MATH!! Sorry for yelling, there, but the people who tout saving money are obviously bad at math.
Premium fuel is usually $.20 more a gallon.
$.20 x 15 gallons = $3
$3 x 52 weeks = $156 of saving a year. Whoopdie frickin' do.

There are so many other areas in monthly expenses to make up the difference plus if you can afford a 40k car and 100-200 bucks extra a year is going to break the bank, you have your priorities out of whack.

Keep in mind that not everyone lives where fuel is among the cheapest price on the planet.
The difference in regular and premium up here is over $0.60/gallon. A refill is 18 gallons and often twice a week for me. Over $1000 annually.
^ no kidding. In vancouver the difference between regular and premium is about 17 cents/litre. Across the border on WA, where I often fill up, the difference is usually 6 cents/litre. About 1/3 the difference. Plus, the US gas is already 25 cents/litre cheaper. Premium is canada is about $1.55/litre, across the line its $1.16. Huge difference. My US fills average 30% less than in Vancouver. So, buy 3 tanks get one free.
Sorry guys, wasn't thinking of other countries. I am in the People's Republic of Taxifornia. Gas is more expensive here than anywhere close by.
Why the hell can Venezuela have $1.00 a gallon gas and WE can't? Stupid government...

yeah city isn't great but I just took my 6mt on a 120+mile roadtrip each way with a lot of driving throughout on vacation. about 350 or so miles on one tank. I feel like daily driving will never give me the same mpg as a longer trip mainly due to the way I drive. Even spending lots of time in traffic and 1st-2nd gear it hasn't been bad.
I put 171796 miles on my 06 G35 and used 7170 gallons of gas for an overall 23.908 MPG. 7170 gallons of gas at $.30 a gallon comes to a savings of $2151.00. Divide that by 7 years and the savings is $307.00 per year or about $26.00 per month. I did 48 of the 53 oil changes myself as well as air and cabin filter changes saving additional service charges.
I bring my own sandwiches to work for lunch and cut out Dunkin Donuts in the morning by making my own coffee at home in a Keurig coffee maker. I don't use their over priced K cups either.
And that is how I was able to afford a new 2012 G37S
My 2012 G37 runs fine on 87 octane as did my 06 G35
The vehicles are delivered by the dealer to the customer with a full tank of regular.
Telcoman
Another MPG thread is one too many when there's already a huge comprehensive one that is sticky. Another MPG thread that turns into a 87 vs 91 octane thread is insufferable. Why should this thread stay open?
