So they renamed it... why would that make the previous incarnations worthless? More likely they become collectors.
Agreed. The G37 is a very solid and reliable vehicle, and no reason it won't hold its value well in the used market. Especially since I would expect the price of the 14's to go up a fair amount (expecially loaded models) and with little incentives or discounts, as the competetion has done with their new models. In 2002, I bought the last model of the 3rd Gen 4Runner and it held its value very, very well through 4G and 5G models. I wouldn't expect anything less from the G.

Well someone already put a deposit on the G I was looking at. All the other ones in the market within my price range are non-Sport. This is not good for the G.

I really liked that car too. Damn.

A RWD Sport Sedan is hard to find, even more so as a 6MT.

Back in Summer 2011, the perfect 2009 G37S Sedan 6MT, in Lakeshore Slate w/Stone Leather, popped up on AutoTrader with low mileage and a fair price. Instead of jumping on it, I took that as a sign that the car I wanted would be available when I was ready to buy.

Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong.

Step 1: figure out exactly what you want.
Step 2: troll constantly, numerous times a day.
Step 3: act without hesitation

Couldn't be said any better. Make up your mind on what you really want first then go get it. But don't get something you don't completely want because then you will be back here with one of those i hate my new car threads. Don't need that.

I've driven all of these cars as well and this is my personal opinion on it. 545i is ugly to start off with and it recieved a 2 star crash rating when it was new, not a great chassis. It's a bit dated too, i personally drove a 530 (hated it) and M5 (it was alright). If you want a e60 go fpr the M5 but the repair bill is pricey. Moving on to the E90, if its a 328 dont get it, 230hp for a car in that catagory is a joke, this type of power should be for 2000 cars. 335 is nice, i liked it but they break down more than they work so thats the negative on that. Moving on to the G, it is in no way a wannabe 3 series, that would be the ats. The G does literally everything different from the 3, from engines to suspension to style, i never understood that wannabe phrase.

Couldn't agree more with these two posts.

If I were you, I'd try to get my hands on a car with lower millage regardless of the brand. You can't really buy a proper G or BMW with $13-14K. Whatever you end up getting for that much money, has probably be beaten to death already. Aside from the Engine related stuff, you have to keep in mind that there are cosmetic issues that can cost a fortune to repair like power seat, stereo, power windows, headlights and many other things. A car with 100K miles is more likely to have those problems and you will not be able to use the warranty to repair those things. Meanwhile, you can get a fairly decent Camry or Accord (possibly with manufacturer warranty) for the same amount of money and save yourself a ton of headache. Then, in a few years when you get your degree and have more $$$, it will be easier for you to get rid of the Honda or the Camry.

Now, if you really don't like those cheaper Japanese cars and want to go for a G or BMW, I'd go for the G as it's a safer choice. You will get more for your money.
