Please help identify this car part

It looks like it has garden hose threads and seems to have a rubber gasket on the male end. The scars on it look like they came from something hitting it more than once, like a mower blade. I'll guess it is from a sprinkler or other water hose related object and got thrown into the parking area by a lawn mower.

Let us know what you find out. Can you ask a gardener to take a look?
