Intelligent Key Stuck
I'm guessing you also TURNED the key after you inserted it, thinking you were supposed to (you are not... This is not a key hole.
If you did, turn it back and then remove it. Either way, you probably did some mechanical damage to the car, so get it checked out even if you do succeed on removing the key and starting the car.

My wife did exactly this one time when I leant her my car. No idea why. It was a bitch to get out, but it is completely possible to gently remove it. I used a long thin wooden stick you'd use for a shishkabob and gently pushed up the part inside the hole that grabs the fob.
