Y pipe honestly makes little difference . Read the info on exhaustdepot about flange diameters.

As far as rims, because I tend to take clients in my G, I was looking towards 19's. I've been looking at the VMR 710's either silver or gunmetal. I'm just trying to figure out which color.

I've ordered gloss black vinyl so i plan to do my grill and possibly side chrome trim. Depending how this turns out, it may help me decide which color to go with. I hope so cause i can't seem to figure it out.

What do you think?
Looking great w/ that drop. Here's two great looking (IMO) wheels in gunmetal if you want some affordable 19s, AvanteGarde gets nice reviews, they have them in sedan offsets and they're not a heavy wheel.

Yeah, I like the mesh design. I hope to buy the new wheels in 2 to 3 months. I'll post up once I get them on. I'll contact Charles then. Thanks for the info.

Same here - totally in love with the Tanabes. The build quality can't be beat, I've had them on a couple of a months as well and the sound above 3500-4000 is amazing especially if you going under an overpass :-) They are exactly what I was looking for in a daily driver - not obtrusive in the cabin, just a slightly deeper sound under 3500.

I have the Tanabe axle-backs and have not had a single issue with them. They are quality built, IMO. I've had mine about a year. After about 500 miles was when the sound became more noticable. Paired with HFCs they sound just right.

I guess my only real question now is would switching out the mid pipes (from cats back to mufflers) making the entire exhaust 2.25" in diameter make the exhaust louder? I don't think it will add any HP from all that I have read.

It would make it a lot louder depending on the size of the resonators, obviously non-resonated mid pipes would be very loud (and amplify any rasp & drone), then the 12", then the 18" resonators. A 12" resonated 2.25" mid pipe section would probably check off most of your boxes. You'd want to address the Y-pipe too if you're wanting a full 2.25" setup

Hey tchoke,
After a year I feel like I made the right choice. I added the R2C intake and combined with the Tanabe, it sounds perfect.
As Warped mentioned, the sound is louder once you put miles on them (500 mi is about right). After that it shouldn't get any louder. The quality seems to be top notch and I haven't noticed any rust. I definitely recommend them. If you're wanting really loud, then you may want to consider another set-up.
Hope this info helps.

I have exactly what Bota has: the tanabe medallion with the R2C intake and love it a LOT! I've driven over 500 miles with them and I'm very pleased. Planning to add the FI RHFC

Any idea where I can find these jewels (resonated 12" mid pipes @ 2.25", and the Y-pipe). I've done some searching and all I'm coming up with is coupe stuff.

If I remember correctly - isn't the mid-pipe for the coupe the same as the sedan?

Y-pipe - much harder time finding a 2.25" version since Exhaust Depot went away....

I was not aware of this. Can anybody else verify this? Thank you

Justin, I thought you were just going to piece it together at a exhaust shop, they should be able to source the resonators and make you a Y pipe, they'd just go off your OEM pipes to get the fitment proper.

Back before I installed the HFCs I was going to look into a shop doing the entire system. After doing all of the work myself I couldn't resist in doing this easy stuff myself. My number one concern is creating or amplifying the dreaded and much feared RASP. I just got a quote from a G37 vendor for the Tanabe Y-pipe and mid-pipe..... $1060 shipped. Seems awfully steep considering the complete ARK GRiP system is only $1700 give or take. Plus, I KNOW that the ARK sounds beautiful from a car meet we just had down here. (Those ARK exhausts are great) Then again, all told if I bought from this vendor the total price of my exhaust would be very comparable to the ARK system if you take away the cost of the HFCs. Decisions decisions
