Gas Gage not always working?

Sometimes when I get into my car my gas gage will it register that it has gas in the tank but then after about 10-15 mins the meter goes back to normal and it works again. This does not happen all the time but happens enough to address it. What could be causing this?

It has been a nagging problem for some. I've dealt with it 3 times now. There are threads about it, read them.

Cliffs: The contacts on the sending unit on the fuel pump need to be cleaned. Remove fuel pump and float, thoroughly clean contacts on fuel gauge sending unit with electrical contact cleaner. Replace. Done (hopefully).

So people have experienced this problem before its not just me? Does any parts need to be replaced or is the issue just cuz it needs cleaning? It doesn't really happen that much but it's happened enough to be addressed

I do need to do this, it's been on my list for a while, but I get lazy when I know I have to get in the back seat (I'm 6'3") and remove the seat and all that...lol.
