Gas mileage on dash different than navi screen??!?
Gas mileage on dash different than navi screen??!?
Why does the mpg scale on the dash go to 0-60 mpg buy when you view it on the big center navi screen it only goes from 0-30 mpg? When I am coasting on the highway it be getting more than 30 mpg. I also noticed that I have different avg. mpg. reading on both...no surprise that my mpg reading on my dash display is higher by .5 mpg. Any thoughts?

Here is why you are seeing two different numbers: One of the displays is short term and one is long term. There are two separate places to reset them. If you'd really like them to both show the same number (thereby losing the long term average), then you can reset them both at the same time.
The fact that the display only shows 30 doesn't change the numbers it works with.
Think of it this way:
If your speedometer only goes to 100mph, and you drive 110mph, sure it may stop at 100 on the gauge.... but it still doesn't change the fact that you're actually going 110
and your odometer will change accordingly, (i.e. it's not going to ignore the fact you're going 110). Similarly, the fact that the gauge display runs out at 30 doesn't change the measurement it is taking to compute the average MPG....... of course. But none of that is actually relevant to your original question.... The displays are different for the reason mentioned above. You're attributing the display difference to the reading difference, but it is actually two different averages, nothing to do with the display it shows you.
Hope that helps

Ok....... Neither of them is "wrong", they are both right.

The one that you reset the most recently is the short term MPG. I recommend that you use the navigation for this, as it keeps a history of past values before the resets. The one in the instrument cluster works best for long term tracking as it has no history.
