15,000 mile service

I saw in another thread someone mention a 15k mile service.

I just bought my 2010 used and it just turned 14,000.

What is the 15k service? Is it mandatory?...affect the warranty if i skip it? Is it free? The oil was just changed in my car (synthetic). What do they do? Check the filters and kick the tires and charge me $1,500?? My nearest Infinity dealership is an hour away. Can a Nissan dealer do it. They are 5 min away

How often do you change the oil in these things? And can it be done at a Jiffy Lube? I had to take my GTI to the dealer to get everything done. They use special oil...tranny fluid...coolant...even wiper solvent haha. It was a pain.

i would say it's not mandatory.

i would however take it to the dealer for the initial retorque of the engine mounts and certain other parts.

it is NOT mandatory to take the G to the dealer for oil changes. it's cheaper, and you can get better(opinion) oil if you DIY the oil changes.

and i think you got hosed on the GTI thing. i have a friend who owns an aniversary edition and he DIY's everything himself.....there's nothing on these cars PRETTY MUCH that you can't find on line for cheaper and DIY it.

you can find a ton of info here on the forums. just gotta look for it.

welcome to the forum!

Just take the car to a decent oil/lube business and have them change the oil and filter and do all of the typical chassis checks. You can change the cabin air filter yourself...there is a good you tube video....takes about 10 minutes if you have a 15" philips head screwdriver with a magnetic head.

about the only thing you had to take the GTI to the dealer for was the coolant. Oil is just any other oil. I had an Audi A3 (essentially a GTI) and i took it to the dealer because it was included in the maintenance plan. they only used ordinary Castrol Synthetic. nothing you can't get at Pep Boys. As for the G, it's just a regular oil change. you don't have to go to the dealer either. 15k service is nothing but an oil change and the cabin filter. everything else is just inspect.

So sorry.

Actually it didn't. I realized that after i drove off the lot. Went back and asked him for it. He gave it to me but all the pages are wavy and stuck together like it had been soaking wet and then dried out. It still works but I didn't have it in front of me when I asked about mileage intervals between oil changes.

your username looks familiar, did you own a MK6 GTI at one point?

edit: Nevermind, I read your first post lol.

Welcome!

I don't think 15k requires all that much, i'll look in my manual when I get home. Oil change intervals are 3750 per the manual but does not require synthetic.

Actually here is a link for the maintenance schedule:

https://owners.infinitiusa.com/iowne...2010_I_SMG.pdf

Just a oil change and in cabin filter is needed at 15k.
