OMG, Sniper... that's beautiful.

I've got a vinyl shop nearby, and they weren't too keen on wrapping the grille because of the complexity of the vertical slats between the bars. But based on these pictures here, what you had done looks very, very good.

Can you talk about this a little more, please? How deep into the bars does the vinyl go? Any chance of you taking some close-up pictures so we can get a sense of the details and where the cut-lines are?

I'm impressed. Now I need to re-examine plans on paint vs. vinyl.

I say leave it chrome unless you remove the rest of the chrome on your car.

You do not need to go that deep on the vertical slats. They are in far enough where it doesn't really reflect light, so with the black horizontal slats, you really can't see the chrome vertical slats. The vinyl goes in about half way into each horizontal slats (right behind where the bar on top overhangs the bar you're working on). Like I said, with the overlapping of each horizontal slats over the next and the shadowing it creates, you will not see the chrome while looking at it from any angle or light condition. A good vinyl installer should be able to do this with no issues. Some will cut out a template for each bar and lay it down. My installer put down a big sheet over the entire area first, then cut horizontally right below the slats. This gives him enough to wrap the top of the horizontal slat below. It took about 1.5 hrs, as it takes time to make sure the edges and curves are perfect, using heat gun and patience. I've had this for over a year not with no peeling, chips, or cracks. I have more rock chips in the paint on my bumper than the vinyl. lol

I need to print this out and open this discussion again with my local vinyl shop.

Well done, Sniper. Thank you for the details.

OP, sorry for side-tracking the thread. For your specific question on the emblem, leave it chrome. IMO it's already over the top if actually painted to the edges like that photo, and taking the emblem there too would just look silly.

The grill should be a fairly easy job for those experienced in vinyl wraps. The vinyl really expands when heated and like Snipers 1st pic above shows it really will sink into the valleys between the slats and just some heat and mild pressure you'll have enough vinyl to cover the slats, pretty amazing stuff to work with really.
