Pintripe on new car...

My car is only 2 weeks old, can I remove the pinstripe without any special detailing? Is it still free enough to come right off, and not leave any problems?

Thanks,

Brad

Is it an aftermarket pinstripe, meaning there is no clearcoat sprayed over it? If so, I would think it's safe to remove...did the same thing on my old Maxima when it was new, and I couldn't tell that it was ever there. If it has clear coat sprayed over it (some factory versions were like this in the past), I would ask a paint expert before doing anything. Let's see what others say.

My last car had a pinstripe that was a frost painted into the clear coat. Removal would have required wet sanding. I'm not sure what Infiniti uses though...I ended up leaving mine on since it would have been to expensive to remove.

I would guess it is a pin stripe that the dealer had added so they could pad the price of the car.
Since your car is only a few weeks old it shouldn't leave any ghost lines on the car after you pull the stripe off.
Use a hair dryer or heat gun (just don't get the paint too hot) to heat the stripe as you pull it off.
Walmart sells a 3M adhesive remover that is citrus based, in a spray can, that will not harm your paint. You can use that to remove any adhesive residue that is left after you carefully pull off the stripe.

My car had pinstripes that were painted by the dealer. I used a small a amount of laquer thinner and that removed the pinstripe without any issue. All I did afterwards was polish the area where the pinstripe was and applied wax to the area.

Mine had the vinyl pinstripes on it when I bought it...I peeled them off and buffed the whole car. You can not tell it was ever there.

I removed the vinyl pinstripes after keeping them on for over a year. Easily peeled off the pinstripes using a hairdryer. Cleaned the residue with StoneTarminator (just dont spray too much on at once, work in small spots and rinse off after each use). Finished with a compound buff and then gloss finishing polish. Car looks like it never had the pinstripes.

Pics of the pinstripe aren't great, but it gives you an idea.
