Fully Metalized Tint

Hi, I just go my G last week and the first thing I wanted to do is get it tinted. Has anyone every had any problems with fully metalized tint interfering with the nav signals.

The antenna for the NAV is on the roof. I wouldn't worry about that.

I heard it might mess with the radio antenna which is in the rear glass window (so I've heard). I've love to know though because I wanted to do the same..

When i got my tint I was told it might interfere with the radio and keyless entry. So I opted for non metallic. I would be interested to see what happens if anyone does get metallic tint.

It shouldn't interfere at all. I remember reading all the people on my old rx-8 forum saying it would, but I went ahead and got it tinted anyway. I never noticed a difference on my navigation or radio. I think you'll be just fine.

If you are worried you can wait a little longer. I'm probably gonna get my G tinted in the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

That's why I went with ceramic. When I put metallic tint on my WRX, I noticed that the range where the keyless entry would work was GREATLY reduced. The tint guy didn't think it would be a problem but I didn't want to risk it.

Where I live they quoted me 200 for the whole car including the sunroof and eyebrow, and upwards of 550 for ceramic

Ceramic is alot more expensive but it truly is worth it, I had both metallic and currently ceramic and the tint color and quality is alot better. I did save money by doing it myself, I tint and detail cars so it wasnt an issue. Ceramic has qualities unmatched by metallic, specially the fact that even low tints provide superior UV and Heat protection, isnt that why everyone gets tints???

So I got my car tinted on Friday. I went with 35% (metallic) all around. Looks great and I'm happy to report no problems with the radio or gps. The only thing that has changed is the key fob distance has been reduced a little.

Disclaimer: I am in no way saying metallic is better. I'm sure ceramic is, but an excellent installer was my main reason in choosing my tint and all he uses is metallic.

We always do FormulaOne Pinnacle tint (for health reasons). The other benefit of using this product is heat reduction in summer and (for the G37xS) protects the leather. Glad to hear your metallic is working for you.

Hold the fob up to your chin when unlocking your car. That'll get you some range back. No lie.

I have metallic on my G. Radio/GPS/key fob work just fine.

^thats funny, I actually use that trick all the time. I used to valet park and it helps a lot. People never believe you when you tell them that for the first time. They think your trying to set them up with something like, "is your hand bigger than your face?"
