First day in Hilton Head, someone did a hit & run on my G37

Happened Monday, I was down there for vacation. I was parked at the country club, and when I finished my round I discovered someone scraped up my rear bumper. Didn't leave a note, no witnesses, nothing.

Didn't let it ruin my vacation but now it's time to deal with it. As far as I can tell the bumper cover will need replaced.

Anyone know if this would be covered under comprehensive or collision insurance? My comprehensive deductible is only $250, but collision is $1000.

Rest assured karma is a b*tch... and she drives a large bus.

Whoever did it will get theirs in the end.

Is it scratched through the paint or just scuff marks?

Man, that's some seriously high deductible. And unfortunately, claims like this typically fall under the Collision terms of your policy, but obviously your insurance agent is the one with the answers.

Is this a 2010 - 2012 Sedan? One of the things you could consider is using the 2007 - 2009 bumper in replacement. I've always thought the previous rear bumper was much more appealing on the Sedan than the current design.

OAN, I still get grief from the wife when I park in the safest spots on the edges of the parking lot. But with good reason on my part.

Good luck, OP. I sympathize with your situation. It's frustrating, unfair, annoying, expensive... all those things. Mostly it's that helpless feeling that there's nothing you can do about it.

One more thing, if the repair is close to your deductible, do NOT claim it in order to save a few hundred dollars in the difference. Every insurance company is different, but your policy could go up, even with a no-fault situation. Best not to have any claims on record against your policy except the ones that are overwhelmingly appropriate.

Talk to your insurance agent first and see if they will commit to coverage without a policy increase.

Sorry for your lost, they have done exactly the same thing to my Maxima, since it was an older car, I just touched up and buffed it out.

I wish my G37 rear camera has full time surveillance function recording everything on the internal hard drive or USB drive whenever I put the car into "park", so I can bust the motherf****r next time they do this.

You'll need a larger hard drive and 3 additional cameras just to make it worthwhile, IF you could pull it off, which you CAN'T

^^^ nah, the G37 already has all the hardware - camera, sonars, HDD, USB. I believe all what needed is appropriate software to support the function.

Here's a pic.

First day in Hilton Head, someone did a hit & run on my G37-i4ysd.jpg

Thankfully the bumper doesn't need replaced. Got an estimate today from a well-recommended body shop for about $430 to respray the bumper with BASF paint/urethane clear coat.
