The ones in the back are useless...anything over 4" tall becomes top-heavy and tips over.

The ones in the front are stable for me, but are part of a trend in the car. I think overall Infiniti did a fantastic job managing space in the G. I'm 6'6", and I never thought I'd fit in a car this size, but I do. However, many of the storage devices are a little too small for their purpose: my sunglasses don't fit in the overhead, two cups don't sit well side-by-side in the cupholders, the front storage at the base of the center stack won't even fit a credit card. A half inch in these areas would have made a big difference, and should be achievable without growing the exterior.

Now I understand!!!

After getting a G37x loaner recently, I get it now. The parking brake on my 6MT is a hand-brake that compromises the center console. Consequently, the cup-holders are little more than a glorified coin tray. A poorly design rectangular piece with a removable center panel about the size of a credit card. As cup-holders go, they are about as lame as lame can be.

But only on the 6MT. Otherwise, the average G-Sedan has decent cup-holders. They even have this nice leather-covered lid.

Wish I had that.

The cup holder in my car is an EZpass tag holder. I would not have a problem if I had your 6MT.

They must not have 7-Elevens in Japan, so have never seen a 44-oz drink cup.

Certainly in the larger sense, it's a silly thing to get worked up about. But here's the real nuttiness about this issue: the parking brake in our cars is not an emergency brake... it's just a parking brake. So implementing it as a hand-brake in the RWD Sport Package serves zero added value to the car. And it turns out to be a net loss of value, because it trashes usefulness of the damn cup-holder.

In other words, I'd happily forgo the "hand-brake" for the cup-holder, because pulling this thing at speed does nothing what-so-ever.

The cup holders with the A7 are not much better, really, than the 6MT. Now that McD's drinks are all $1, two large cups do not fit without overlapping. So you must be very careful with these small, shallow holders.
Also, the lid on the cover has no leather. Looks a bit like leather, but vinyl same as the material on the doors and parts of the seats.

At least these cars have cupholders. The Germans engineering my E34 530i said fck cupholders. We are drivers, not sissies that need to drink during the drive. Thus my 530 has no cupholders.

My '03 Maxima has pretty nice cup holders.

At least we don't have those completely flimsy, awful cupholders that pop out from the dash and make it impossible to use any of the stereo/hvac controls that the ~1993 G20 sedan had (my sis had one of those)

This is how cars were intended to be used...not moving restaurants.

Why not! I wish the seat could massage my back and thighs while I am driving.
