Cars are for driving...this is strictly an American thing and foreign car makers reluctantly gave in. Here in America we have the attitude that everything should be done in our cars; and it's shows in our accident rates. The rest of the world thinks we are stupid to want cup holders in our cars.
I have the occasional water bottle for long trips, but I don't do coffee, sodas, or food while driving my car.

Never had a complaint with the cup holders and I've had the AT and MT. I guess if you drive around town like Mario they could be a problem.

The 6MT ones are even worse. It's hard shifting if you have a decent size cup in there

The cup holders dont really grip the drinks. I dont like them. Anything taller than a soda can will tip. I have to hold my Starbucks mug when taking turns. Also, if you get two drinks, more than likely, they wont fit. Not a fan.

It's not a vice, coffee has many health benefits as long as you limit it to 2 to 3 cups a day and it's certainly alot better for you than decaf coffee which is basically a cup full of chemicals.

Why are people questioning those of us who drink coffee in our car? Not to go on a rant but we can drink whatever we want to drink and don't have to answer to anyone about it. I guess I find it just as silly that people drink water in thier car. If you have a 2 hour commute on the way home nothing is better than having a nice cup of coffee. Sorry that bothers some of you.

I picked up my 09 sedan recently and overall I love the car , but must agree that the cup holder design with the hinge thing is a crappy design.
It tends to want to grab and hold onto the cup coming out.

No really I bought some SS tumblers from startbucks and they fit great. I have not had one tip over and 2 fit perfect side by side.
Hahahaha, roger that!

Speaking of first world problems, this is the reason those cups with the closable flap are awesome! And the side holders are decent for bottles

No sympathy. Cars are for driving...not drinking, eating, putting on makeup, texting, etc.

I've never understood the crowd that drives and says, "gotta have coffee! gotta have coffee! gotta have coffee!...."

Cars are for driving, kitchens are for cooking, toilets are for ****ting... Very true.

I like to drink some coffee as I drive an hour to work each morning. I knew it was going to spill, my fault. Just ****ty cup holder design, but it's all good

Agreed. I wish the spot in the center console for the cup holder could be salvaged for storing things like a portable GPS. The spring loaded tab designed to hold the cup is very annoying and cannot be easily move out of the way.

When I had my 2007 5AT sedan, that piece of the cup holder was part of a removable insert. Is it now fastened or did they change the design?

I have to disagree. I had a 2011 Nissan Maxima, Cup holders were perfect. Never spilled a drink in that car.
