I have been very impressed with the 7AT in the G37...I would put it right up there with BMW's steptronic and DSG from Audi/VW, having driven both of those. And because of the shorter 1st - 5th, you're not losing any performance advantage the MT may offer.
The MT is fine, and just like the 350z-370z clutch...because it's the same thing!

I had a 09 7AT vert, and after 2 years traded it in for a 6MT sedan and I couldn't be happier. MT is way better, smoother feel, less problems and more fun. Period.

I've had both and if you love MT...don't think you'll be happy with 7AT. It works, but loses something.

Also there won't be a new car for at least 2 years. Waiting is dumb.

I'm glad you like it...difference of opinions I suppose. Believe me, I was completely a MT guy as well..but coming from MT's in a BMW, Honda, and VW I found the Nissan/Infiniti clutch action to be terrible. I know the car reviewers have said the same as well. No, the 7AT will never be as fun as a manual..but its simply not worth the hassle. I drive 20k/miles a year so it's a big deal to me for daily driving..and I also enjoy being able to sip my coffee in traffic

My previous cars were a 335 MT, 350Z Twin Turbo, and an Audi 1.8T MT. The Nissan clutch does take some getting used to, but all cars drive different.

I never buy the excuse about sitting in traffic, I can drive MT an drink coffee fine. It's not like you can't coast in 1st or second and not worry about it.

I buy a "sports" sedan to enjoy when it's supposed to be used. You don't buy a sports car to drive in traffic.

In stock form, the clutch on these cars isn't the best, with poor feel and modulation control. Replacing one cheap part (pedal assist spring) in the pedal assembly corrects this fault. Having read up on the subject long before buying mine, it was one of the first mods done.

Hmmm never saw that mod...I'd say that is the funny part of the clutch, the spring has an odd stretch point.

I just wanted to say that I was hesitant about modding something that affects the interaction between myself and the car but I was pleasantly surprised. I ripped out that clutch-assist helper spring last Friday and I couldn't be happier

You just take the spring out? Or replace it?

^^Folks have done both. Replacing it with weaker eliminates/reduces the slop present in the pedal when clutch is fully engaged (pedal at the top), but still maintains the improved feel. Do a search on here and 370z about 'clutch pedal assist spring'. There's been lots of feedback, going back at least a few years now with no ill effects reported.
