Thumbs up The Chin

Well, finally its here after months of waiting for Infiniti to release the Malbec Black front chin. Now that this is a standard color on the 2012 sedans unlike in 2011, where it was only on the special edition, they are able to release such parts. I was lucky enough to get it for the price stated online ($410) and it came painted. Now I have to find someone who can install it in the spring since the directions look a bit complex and i dont want to screw it up. The look of the car will now be complete! before and after pics will follow soon in the spring..now my car will be FULLLY loaded! yays!

First, the disclaimer- I've never installed a MB front chin. However, I have installed the Sport lip on a G37xS and a full NISMO 350Z bodykit (including full bumper cover, splitter shroud, sideskirts, rear bumper cover and rear splitter). In each case, the factory instructions were adequate to do the job with simple hand tools. It does take time to check and recheck the fit before you drill or install anything. If you've got a garage, floor jack, jackstands and simple hand tools, I'd suggest you give it a go!

This install should be pretty straight forward. Drill some holes and I'm sure there's some double sided tape involved too.

I am planning on getting mine this spring/summer. I've heard it is a tight fit and even with just the tape it is very secure.

the included instructions do include templates ensuring proper alignment and snug fit. I'll try to get some estimates first as I dont have any time lately, I want to get it installed as soon as I can to even out the front bumper wear with the chin and not have a drastic paint mismatch.

I have done this install on my g37XS myself, and it was pretty easy, although i have a fair amount of experience. But in my opinion you really dont need too much experience to take care of this install. The directions were clear, but the template they give you is garbage, it would not line up perfectly so i just figured it out myself.

I would suggest fitting it on the car as many times as you need to until you are ready to drill the 2 holes in the side of the bumper. The holes underneath are really no big deal, if you mess them up no one will see them. And certainly make sure you follow the instructions on taping the edges of the double sided tape to the front of chin spoiler, otherwise you wont be able to get to them when fitting it onto the car. If you happen to live in new york i would be more than happy to give you a hand.

So what's the real price on this thing? And don't they all come color-matched?

The is a big price jack up on the malbec color. I had been looking because I have a '11 LE and there at one time was 1 availabile in the country for 650+. This is great news for the 2012 guys and any other '11 LE people that need to replace their lip at some point.

exactly, all the standard color chins go for well below oem price but its the GAC color (malbec black), that jacks up the price for some reason and as stated above are selling for way over the oem price, even through certain Infiniti dealerships..so I guess for Malbec Black standards, $410 was a pretty awesome deal!
