It gets confusing because there are too many labels for each model: 250GT, 350GT, 370GT, etc. then you add the sub-types /F, /FV, /P, /S, the hodge-podge is practically endless.

This is where I see the brand going in the next decade or so. As I've said before, the Q60 is already dead and the Q50 is on the verge of death. Outdated technology, too many QC issues, a ton of problems with the VR30, I just do not see how they can survive on SUV's alone.
As most who know me here, if it has more than 2-doors I am not interested. I wanted to like the Q60 but could never sell myself on it. So, the brand is dead to me anyway. I'll keep my Coupe likely until my end of days. What I'll add to the stable... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, I do not want to stray from the topic of the thread, so, back on topic.
Went to get my new summer tires, had to grab a snap with this Supra. Should have waited to take the winters off first, but whatever lol. Rare occasion she is actually clean for more than a day. There were 5 supras at that shop, making a combined 7000+ horsepower, you do the math lol.
In High School, my best friends Dad bought one new for 15K, which seemed like a fair amount of money back then. I thought the family was loaded because they owned not one but two video rental shops. Since my life to that point had centered around muscle cars and carrying a toolbox full of tools in the trunk just in case you break down taking your friends home, the thought of a decent looking performance car that really only needs filter and oil changes seemed foreign to me. These cars are now up there with the R32/R34, Silvia, 300Z...JDM icons.
A 3rd gen Supra Turbo (early 90s) is what got me into import cars - it just f'ing WALKED my lukewarm Z28 on the beltway around DC. Always regretted not getting one - I first had a MK1 MR2, then a whole lot of FC RX-7s.
Nostalgia cars I'd like to own or have owned:
Turbo MK3
MK2 MR2 Turbo
300ZX turbo
But with all of them getting long in the tooth and hard to find parts for, I doubt I'll ever be able to convince myself it makes sense.
After being at a Vintage race in Atlanta a few weeks ago, I really want an Jaguar E-type racecar LOL.
Maybe I should google what engines folks are stuffing into Versas and go race IT-C or whatever class that is.
I've got a close friend who used to own a Jaguar E-Type Vert. I actually drove it once, and it was terrifying because it felt so unsafe. The car needed way more repair than he was willing to do, so it sat in his garage for decades before selling it to someone who did a frame-up restoration. Interestingly, he acquired the E-Type on a straight-up trade for his Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Not one of the new ones, this was the original with the 428ci Cobra Jet. That car was also terrifying, and needed more restoration that he was willing to put into it.
Some people get these big restoration dreams, and actually manage to secure a once-in-a-lifetime car, but then it just sits and rots. Kind of a shame.
The thing I remember most was the huge wooden steering wheel that felt like it would snap like a toothpick.
That second gen MR2 is also a personal favorite of mine, if only for the looks of the thing. Apparently one of the most unmanageable tail-happy cars made, however.
Sport Compact Car I think did a series on the Mk2 MR2, getting it up to Ferrari- performance levels. It was interesting, basically giant honking turbos and then support system upgrades to deal with the heat. Minor tuning IIRC. It was impressive.
+1 for the MK2 MR2. While I was never a Toyota "fanboy," per se, can't deny they did turn out some impressive machines back then...
+1 on this one. Back then, 60s-70s era 300-400hp muscle cars in decent shape could be picked up for 5-6K, so a 15K Toyota with 200hp seemed like a waste of money.
I almost traded my Mk1 MR2 on an 89 or 90 (whatever the first year of the MK2 was) in 1991. Couldn't get the financing LOL (I was 19 and thought $20k/year was a good job).
A friend bought an automatic one for his daughter, and spent several years converting it to manual and then hopping it up. Fast as a fast thing, and handled very well too.
