2 Issues that drive me crazy ('09 37xs)

Overall I love my car but there are a couple of very minor things that drive me crazy.

- I have keyless entry and go, and the battery in the key goes dead every 2-3 weeks. Is that normal? It might very well be my own fault, because there have been times I sit down in the car and the panic button gets pushed by something in my pocket. Or I get to the car and it warns me my trunk is open (and it really is!) which leads me to think I actually am pushing the buttons on occasion. Since I dont actually ever use any of the buttons, is there some kind of small case I can put this in then put it in my pocket so I dont keep doing this?

-Secondly... Once in a while I start the car with the button, and it wont come out of park. I have to hit the brakes a few times and then it comes out of park ok (so far!). Is there any kind of adjustment? Its maybe 1 out of every 10 times. Im just afraid one of these days I wont get it out of park.

I also have an issue with wheel bearings I think. It hums on the hiway and drives me nuts. New tires didnt make any difference at all.

1. Sounds like one of the buttons on your key may be sticking. 2. I had that same issue a few weeks ago with the car not wanting to come out of park. I was parked on an incline at the time. Since I stopped parking there I have not had an issue.

1. Battery life should be about 2 years or so on the remote, so either buttons are stuck or something.
2. Mine does that every once in a while. Never found a fix.

A hint for those with new(er) cars/remotes. Separate the halves of the remote you're not using, then store the pieces someplace safe. This breaks the electrical connection and ensures there's no parasitic draw.

I keep mine FOB in my front pocket with nothing else and have never had a problem. As far as the car coming out of park, the best thing I found is I get in the car, start it, then put my seat belt on, then go into gear. This seems to eliminate the not coming out of park issue. I think if you hop in and try to put it into gear too fast it seems to mess with it. Try it out and see how it goes.

I order some fob condoms. They are of silicon material which cover all the buttons. I didn't like the other ones that left the buttons exposed.

The transmitter in the key may be going bad. Try using your other key for a while see how long that battery lasts.

If your car is parked on an incline be sure to use your parking brake first before putting the car in park. This will keep the load off the transmission which can make it hard to move the shifter, it's also better for the car

The fobgina (as referenced in a different thread) is nothing more than an rfid reader of sorts. When the primary battery is weak or dead in the fob, insertion of the fob into the fobgina activates the secondary transponder. There is a coil of wire that uses induction to power this device. Due to the very low power levels involved, the fob has to be in very close proximity. The receptacle in the dash provides this mechanism. It doesn't charge anything, it's simply a backup means of getting the car started.

Take apart the fob and you'll see it right under the infiniti emblem.
