G37 Lease - Navi or no Navi?
You have the option of using a Garmin friction mount, I've never used suction cups. Both mount and GPS can be easily stored in the center console when not in use. Also, I would rather to have a portable GPS die on me, not this expensive in-car unit. When it dies, it takes climate control and audio control with it. Want to change your destination? Search for POI? You get to put the car in a dead stop to do it, not with Garmins. Another advantage is that the placement of a portable GPS will keep your eyes on the same level of the road. Oh, did I mention you can upgrade to a new GPS every year with the money spent on the in car unit? My next car will not have in car Nav unless it proves to be much superior than any portable units on the market which is unlikely as the portable GPS will not be standing still.
in my center console or on the floor, when the car is parked outside.
I have the Nav option in my G37, but I still like my portable Garmin GPS better. It is easier to use and has no lock outs while car is in motion.
I bought a 2011 Santa Fe, SE V6 for the wife to use in town for shopping, etc. I purposely got one without Nav, so I could use the Garmin.

I use a Garmin in my Jeeps. I do love them and one has voice. They work amazing. I don't use them in my cars. Oh and in my Jeeps I only use the suction cups off the windshield. I take the unit off when not in use. Like I said before there is something to be said about stock stuff in your vehicles. I love my Garmins and use the hell out of them for Jeeping (I have full blown 26k topo maps) and work but in my G37 it's just not right in my mind.

I have a Garmin GPS in my SUV and the factory Navi in my G37x. This is my second Garmin GPS unit and I think they are great. That being said, I have never regretted spending the extra money for the Navi option in my G sedan. If a Navi system is something you need and are going to use, then I would not hesitate to get the factory Navi option in the G you are leasing.

The factory navi is useful for simple single point/quickest to destination type navigation. When I do some road trips, I like to plot out my own route. Typically far far from any interstates or 'optimal' type routes. I design the route on the computer, upload it to the garmin, then follow the purple line.
Thanks for all your answers guys..as far as the extra features go, I was under the impression that the bluetooth calling option was a part of the premium package and not the navi package. Am I wrong?
I dont care much for the hard drive, and can probably pass on the navi itself, but the bluetooth calling is a must for me...if thats a part of the navi option then it sounds like 20 bucks extra per month would be worth it for me.

Since you're leasing the car, pass on the Nav and see if you regret the decision. If you do, you've got your answer for the next lease. It's only a few years away.
OAN, isn't the rear-camera a component of the Nav Package?

You don't need NAV for bluetooth calling. NAV gives you bluetooth audio streaming for music. Rear camera is only part of NAV for 2009 or earlier. For 2010+, camera is standard on Journey.

I had a loaner (2010 G37 Sedan) the other day that didn't have Nav but it had the bluetooth for my phone. I set it up even though I only had the car for a day. It had the back up camera as well.
