Ive had this issue a few times with my G but all the time with my SUV's so not sure if it is a vehicle problem or not. Generally I just hold up the hose a little bit and it seems to work.

Also happens to me occasionally. Really irritating when it happens....and I always fill my car at the same place.

Try pulling the nozzle out a little. It will alter the flow around it so the pressure sensitive device may not trigger.

I've tried that but it only works for 10 seconds or so. I guess I'll have to mention it at the next oil change and see what they do.

I have had this corrected twice at the dealership. Either take your car in or only pump the gas at about 1/2-3/4 speed.

Same here. Happened few times at different stations. Ended up with gasoline all over myself the one time.

So this issue is due to excessive pressure build up while fueling, causing the nozzle to shut off prematurely?

If I recall correctly it was the gas tank sensor was in a position that the gas coming in was hitting it and splashing the nozzle which made it think it was full and shut off.

But if you do that, will it still shut off automatically when it's full or does that bypass the sensor and I end up with gas all over the place.

It should still shut off automatically. I've never tried it though.

I just had this happen to me last night after reading this thread! I monkeyed with the nozzle before it happened and inadvertently triggered it. I continued the fill and drove off, only to see a 3/4 full tank. I will have to find the drawings for the system. I am thinking that I somehow got gas in the vapor return part of the system and messed up the feedback loop.

Had this problem on both my 08 G and 05 FX35...repositioning the nozzle to the left or right sides helps as well as slowing the flow of gas to a out 1/2 speed or less, as others have mentioned, but I think the real problem is the more I 'overfilled/topped off' the tank after it shut off the pump, the worse it would get. Still not sure on a fix though?

Similar issues, i also find myself sometimes having to squeeze the trigger slower, or angle the nozzle off by 10 deg or so
