Question 2009 - 2010 6MT Sedan Comparison Thread

The point of this thread is to flesh out distinctions between the 2009 and 2010 S-Model sedan.

In Spring of next year, I'm buying a 2009 or 2010 G37S Sedan 6MT. I was convinced it was going to be a Coupe, until my buddy loaned me his 2010 Convertible 6MT for a few days, and I came to the realization that I'd be more comfortable in a Sedan.

I've read numerous times that the 2010 Nav System is superior, but I know my way around and don't travel much, so don't care.

It seems from pictures on AutoTrader that the Stone Leather interior on the 2010 comes with putty-colored dash components and steering wheel, whereas the 2009 Stone Leather G37S Sedan has a proper black steering wheel and dash, regardless of carpet & seats.

It also seems the 2009 rear bumper has a cleaner design (IMO) in the lower crease than the 2010+. Same goes for the cleaner 2009 front bumper fog-light area vs. the squared off 2010 in the S-model. (Is that right, guys?)

Other than these observations, is there anything else that differs between 2009 and 2010 in the G-Sedan? How about the rear-spoiler? (Extended Lip vs. Aero Wing... haven't figured that one out yet.)

there are a few similar threads out there, but you have noticed many of the differences already: front bumper w/fog lights in '10, rear bumper valence changes, aluminum trim inside changed, gauge colours, NAV screen. that's about it i think. the 6MT didn't get the console changes, just the slushbox model.

all changes are superficial. nothing that really matters, i.e. mechanical. it's all up to personal preference. like you, i don't like the S front end '10+ with the goofy fog lights. that's why i bought an '09.

you can get an '09 without sunroof whereas '10 or later sunroof is standard.

Good point, colburs. My local Infiniti dealership said that most all the S-Sedans came with the premium package, which included a sunroof. According to my contact there, it's rare to find a G37S Sedan without it.

Kind of like my 2003 Maxima SE 6MT... no sun roof, which is very unusual for the SE model.

Appearance is mostly subjective. I prefer the 09 sports front, but I am biased cause I have one. The 10+ sport front is more aggressive, but I think the 09 sport front flows better with the rest of the car.

Um, OK for you then.

But I didn't ask which model year you would get. I was looking for the details that are different between the Sedan S 6MT from the years 2009 to 2010. Maybe I already listed them all... maybe not. Hence the thread.

I think the 2010s come w/ backup camera and park sensors , even if you dont have nav. I was pleasantly surprised to have these options as I bought my 2010 from an out of town dealer (barely) used. I really like the darker washi trim, less wrx looking.
Definitely get the premium if you want an 09, you lose bluetoothe otherwise. I looked at an 09 without premium , and it lacked steering wheel phone controls.

Good feedback. Thanks! I completely agree about making sure Premium is included if the car is an '09. That's a requirement.

After a stare & compare at the different front/rear bumper skins, (now that I've come to recognize the difference), I'm quite sure that the 2009 is a more appealing design for me. The eye is drawn to lines of the car that just flow better than the 2010, IMO.

So here I am now, trolling AutoTrader this winter for a 2009 G37S Sedan 6MT Premium in Lakeshore Slate. I'd prefer the Stone Leather interior against the black interior trim of the '09, but Black Leather is fine, too. That's not a hard-stop. Figure $25-$30K USD; a fair price for a great car.
