Car Been In Shop for over month... Bad for Engine?

so my car got hit buy a hail storm a couple months ago and it has been in the shop for over a month getting fixed. its all covered by insurance and it came out to 9,000 dollars worth of damage. they gave me a new hood, roof, and trunk and totally painted my car over from scratch. my question is this. is it bad for the engine to be sitting in the shop for about 5 weeks now and not really be driven for that long. i mean they move it in and out of the shop but don't drive it at all obviously. will the engine be fine? thanks

Wow, sorry to hear you had to endure so much damage to your car after a hail storm. My WRX hood was the only victim after a hail storm in Spring but insurance company quoted me a hair over $500 to fix it. Anyway.

I wouldn't worry about your car sitting idle for a month. Unless it's a year or two, there is nothing to worry about as far as rubber seals and gaskets drying out etc. You'll be fine.

People store their cars over the winter for months without any problems. Cars sit in dealership lots for years when they dont sell.

Dont worry about it.

I'd be much more worried about it getting damaged by someone or something while sitting in the shop for that long. Overspray being one of them.

thank you guys appreciate it. also they are painting the car completely over. they are using Infiniti paint ect. could a great body shop match the paint job of a dealership in your opinion?

^ A 'great' body shop could do a better job.
Infiniti's paint process results in a bit of an orange peel issue and they are not the only ones.

Leaving the car in the shop doesn't hurt the engine. Shouldn't take anywhere near a month for the little damage you've described, but that's a different issue.
