2011/2012 G37xs Sedan
2011/2012 G37xs Sedan
Greetings all, I've been exploring the premium sedan market, and plan to test drive an G37xs sedan tonight. Your help/suggestions related to pricing would be most appreciated. I'm looking at a 2011 G37xs sedan with sport and premium package, msrp of $42,335 plus tax/tags and it was offered at $39,893 plus tax/tags. Also looking at at 2012 G37xs sedan with sport, premium and Nav, msrp of $44,585 plus tax/tag and it was offered at $43,281 plus tax/tags.
I realize the markdown on a 2012 would not be as good on the 2011, so any comments about the offered prices or other suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks very much.

The pricing on that 2011 isn't too bad, but for me, navigation was a dealbreaker.
I'm sure you could haggle down the 2012 G37xS down a few hundred bucks more and you'll never have to worry about it.
I assume you don't even have a color preference between the two.

The 2011 is graphite shadow, and the 2012 is moonlight white, both have black interiors. These are my 2 favorite colors. I've been told that even though the 2011 does not have the Nav, it still has the backup camera, is this correct.
They both look great sitting on the dealer's lot, and yes if I could get them to drop the price on the 2012 a bit, I'd go for this one.

Yes it has a backup camera. Use 100% Haggle-Free New Car Price Quotes from Local Dealers - TrueCar or if your a AAA member, check their site to talk down the price. I went to the dealership, showed them the AAA member price, they matched it after trying to give me on 2.5k more.
Yup, I've already taken a look at true car, they have info for the 2011, so the offered price I mentioned is pretty close, but there are no numbers on true car for the 2012. Also checked AAA, it indicated there were no dealers in my area that participated in that program, but I'll still ask.

Took a 2011 G37xs graphite shadow for a ride yesterday. Nice drive, I drove it as fast as I care to on a long sweeping curve, it really hugs the road quite well. When you accelerate aggressively the exhaust has a nice sound to it. As others have mentioned, with the s package, the drivers seat will take some getting used to, but it really holds you in place. Not sure if I'll get the price as Aspec, but I see the dealer manager this Saturday, we're going to talk numbers for the car and my trade. Even though it does not have the nav, I can live without it, but I really like the display screen and the backup camera. For me it'll be a choice between the G37xs or a 2012 Audi A4, right now I'm leaning towards the G. Did any of you guys have the DRL installed by the dealer, just curious. And I was told by the salesman that the g37xs front headlights are brighter/more focused than a non S, any comments about that would also be appreciated.

One other thing to note - Infiniti uses two different LCD displays in the G. The LCD screen included in the Navigation package is 'enhanced' (hi-res, sharper and clearer) and has a different looking GUI/layout.
I just think some people look at the cost associated with the Nav and shrug it off as to much money just for some maps they don't want, need or use.
In the long run, having Nav will also open up car resale to a broader scope of buyers as well. I think in 4 years, Nav systems will be very common place, possibly even standard, in even the least expensive cars. It's already happening.
Infiniti calls the S package headlights 'unique'. They have a different chrome ring around the projectors but I don't see them as being any brighter or more focused than the headlights on my 07X. I haven't really noticed any difference.
My Bk/Bk 6MT arrived in Vancouver's port right before the tsunami as well. I hadn't actually ordered it but it was exactly what I wanted and was fortunate that no one snapped it up before I did. It was/is pretty hard to get one at the moment. My dealer had a couple other 6MT on the lot but not my colors.
OP - Sorry so OT
Without Nav you also will not have Bluetooth Audio Streaming, a >4x larger Music Box, DVD-video playback and Voice recognition for Audio. If these don't matter (and they don't to some and that's fair) then you shouldn't care if you get Nav or not.
