Burning smell when you accelerate hard

Anyone get burning smell when you acclerate hard?

Reason I ask is, I have an on ramp near where I live and enjoy a spirited right turn to get onto on-ramp and gun it for about 130yrs before the merge. I have the pedal press down 3/4 of the ways with rpm not exceeding redline in D mode. I did this couple of times and each time I get a burning smell. Is this normal or am I doing damage to my car?

I have hypertech coming soon for my awd 2009 sedan and want to baseline it before and after hypertech. I also wanted to test out the recently installed hotchkis sway bar as well.

My personal opinion on hotchkis sway bar:
The hotchiks sway bar is awesome(soft setting front and back)! They give you scary confidence in doing turns at speed you wouldnt normally do. However, if you live in areas that have lots of pot holes/man holes/uneven surface/road under construction (NYC in my case), and you drive 20-30mph. The harsher ride at lower speed becomes very uncomfortable after 15min in traffic. Driving on the highway, comfortwise, I cant tell a difference between stock sway bar and hotchkis sway bar. If you dont mind a little harsher ride on bad roads at slow speed, they definitely worth getting. If you're fortunate enough to live in an area with smooth road...what are you waiting for .

There's already a dedicated thread on hypertech with some member dyno before and after along with other reviews. In the interest of keeping information and reviews on a particular subject not scatter. I will post my opinion there. Of course, my review is subjective to my own personal perference and driving style. My hopes for the hypertech is to minimize throttle lag (0-60 throttle restriction) and more usuable power in the lower range.

Now going back to my issue. Does anyone get a burning smell (not from tire but I think from engine or tranmission) when you step on the padal hard, whether from a launch or from a rolling start? Thanks

How many miles on the car? Is it an auto or stick? Plastic smell or stinky clutch smell (if 6mt).

This is a 2009 G37Sx Sedan 7AT with 13500 miles it. I dont track or anything along that line. Just like to accelerate for kicks after a toll or getting on a on ramp. It smells like its either motor oil or transmission fluid burning. I can produce it 4 out of 5 times. Now I just take it easy and do a gradual acceleration.

This has happened to me a few times, most recently this weekend. I washed the car a few days ago and cleaned off the exhaust tips at the same time. I got on it yesterday after a few days and smelt a burning smell. I checked the exhaust tips and they were noticeably darker (more carbon) than when I saw them the day before. I've always thought it was just the engine clearing it's throat so to speak

I got this during my break in, but not since the first oil change to PP. Of course, there is the slightest chance that burning PP smells different than the factory fill.../sarcasm off/
