Smell of Gas

Hey all,

I have a 2011 G37x with R2C intake and Ark Grip exhaust. Everytime I start my car (from a cold start) there's a very strong smell of gasoline in the air. It last for several seconds and then dissapates. I looked under my car for leaks and I dont see any and the gas cap is always on properly. This only happens when I start it after I'm parked for the night. If I go to a store or bank and start and stop the engine I dont smell it...should I be worried?

It's under warranty why not take it in and have it checked out?

trying to avoid having to uninstall my intake and exhaust just to have them check it out...otherwise car is fine except for that inital smell.

I know you said you checked but Im still guessing an exhaust leak, try spraying some soapy water on the joints when car is ON... however if you never smell it when the car is warm then chances of a leak would be slimmer.

Could be the fact that the motor starts up with high RPMS and takes time to settle down in which case its burning more fuel and with the new less restrictive exhaust you just smell that extra gas?

Your brought it to the dealer or private tech? Curious to see if the dealer entertained looking at the car.

Private master mechanic...I would never bring it to the dealership unless there was a recall or it was absolutely nesseccary.
