it is extremely frustrating, i know. most of us have experienced similar things at some point. i used to live on a main street overlooking the parallel parking below me. in 2 years i confronted at least 12 people for damaging other cars since they were "parking by braille" as i like to call it. i told them all the same thing: "i will be providing your licence plate info and personal description to the other owner when they return; you can either give me a card with your contact info for private settlement, or this will go through insurance. if you leave it is a hit and run". in 10 out of 12 cases the offender settled privately with the innocent owner when they returned. the other 2 cases were tourists...

and no, i'm not a cop. just an observant guy who hopes someone else would do the same thing if they saw damage to my G.
That is so cool that you would do that for other folks I wish I had a neighbor like you. People are so into themselves nowadays they don't give a Rats AZZ about other people's possessions. Somebody else mentioned that they don't care if their car gets scratched or is filthy. It makes me cringe when I see a nice G, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus..etc running around town filthy no wax these idiots let these nice cars go to hell. I guess they have more money than common sense.

The irony is, my car got dinged when I parked on an island by myself.

So how did my car got dinged? Yup, people too lazy to put shopping carts back to where they belong. I walked out the store only to see a shopping cart right up my rear passenger door.
your lucky you just got a ding from the cart. mine caught a cart on the passenger side and it made a highly noticable crease near the top and fairly deep dent on the bottom. i brought it to a few places and they said it was too much for paintless dent repair but then i brought it to westmont collision and repair near my house. they have the master pdr guy he said he could fix it 85% and ended doing 100% ... i love that guy

Anytime i go to a supermarket and see stray carts near where I parked i always put them in that thing where they keep all the carts. What pisses me off is coming outside and finding 3 o 4 carts surrounding the area my car is in.

^certainly. my coworker always parks his m35 far away from any other car in parking lots. just because he did that they singled out his beautiful car and keyed the F word into his passenger door. he was pretty sure it was highschool kids who dont give a sh#@

first thing i did when we got our G was teach my wife the rules of parking a nice car in a public parking lot.

These rules must be followed in order:

1- if there is an issolated parking space... park it. no matter how far away.
2- don't park near beat up cars
3- don't park near vans (minivans and work vans alike)
4- don't park near cars that show evidence of children
5- don't park near SUVs unless there is no other parking spot and the SUV looks like the owner cares as much about it as you care about your car
6- parking next to another well kept nice car is fair game

did i miss anything? she might as well walk to wherever she needs to go.

You are really asking to get your car screwed up if you take up 2 spaces.
That pi$$es off a lot of people.

I just park as far away as possible. I even park in a different lot then the place I'm going to, rather then park in a congested lot.

That's pretty close to my thought process when parking. Only other thing I think of is if I have to, I park next to sedans rather than coupes since the coupe's doors are longer and swing out wider.

you missed not parking next to a handicap spot. even though some of their spaces are wider, they need lots of room, and open doors fully to get in/out. steer clear of handicap spots.

Also park uphill if possible so that shopping carts abandoned by morons don't roll into your car.
