I have a 10 G37 Sedan. Put about 15k so far. Other than some annoyances with Bluetooth , the occasional 7AT misbehaving (down shifting aggressively in DS) and leather seat getting cracks too soon - I love the car. The best part is the drive , handling and acceleration.
I run it hard on some days by gunning the accelerator if Im the first in a traffic light or such but never go crazy on it or track it.
My questions is - does hard driving cause the G to deteriorate ? If so, what basically happens ? Is it the engine or tranny that begins to feel weak ?
Is this a car that is meant to be driven hard at all ?

What you're describing is not running the car hard. You're not hurting it. The most important thing you can do to keep your car running great long term is to do your routine maintenance regularly.
I say drive it hard as much as you want within reason. Just understand that abuse and driving hard are two different things. I think a car is like an athlete, and needs to be opened up and driven hard sometimes. Obviously, the harder you drive the more the wear items are going to wear (mainly brakes, tires, and bushings), and it may slightly decrease the life of your transmission/clutch and engine over a long period of time. Even properly tracking your does not hurt much as long as you know what you are going, and use the right parts.
Thanks guys. Im glad that my spirited driving is not really abusive to the car. I want to keep her for atleast 5 more years and maintain her in top form.

What exactly is hard driving then ? I dont care about replacing brake pads or tires but dont want to mess up the tranny , engine or other high dollar items

I love to track cars as a former Subaru owner its in our blood... Any how I hope we can drive it hard. I already tracked my sedan twice, but it does have some rattling for some reason, but its been their since i drove the car out the lot. FML
IMO it would be running the engine for long stretches right near the redline, continual higher speed stretches w/ a lot of hard braking then back up to high speed and then hard braking. This would basically be a very windy road drive w/ a lot of hard cornering, hard acceleration & hard braking for a long time. These are the kind of drives the G is made for though, every car has its' limits and driving it hard some of the time shouldn't be a problem at all (I think almost all of us do it around here, lol). There's also certain conditions that you really should show some restraint, such as driving up something like the Yuma, AZ pass in the middle of the summer w/ your AC cranked, I wouldn't push the G too hard in such conditions.

I track my sedan at both road courses and the dragstrip....it's a fun car in both cases. I do not abuse it but do drive it hard, and definitely change out fluids with high quality stuff more often than most and keep an eye on the brake components regularly. Sure, it's got some minor rattles but I'm sure that's mostly because the suspension and chassis has been stiffened.

Keep in mind the VQ37VHR can develop some heat when run near redline for any period of time. The ECM of our Gs are set to go into limp mode whenever water temps exceed 220 degrees. Racers know that a remote oil cooler is required equipment if you really know how to run your G at the track,
