High speed handling impressions
#16
at very high speeds (130+mph) there are german and other cars which have better stability, but then again those cars cost more than the G.
im comparing stock vs stock.

You have a sport model. OP doesn't. Neither do I.
OP I posted a similar complaint here, late Friday night. I agree with you. https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...sion-help.html

I agree with the OP. I have a G37S sedan and high speed handling and stability are not that good. I'm coming from an S5 and C63. The german cars feel much more solid and stable. The G37 feels nervous and insubstantial.
The stock G37s feels floaty at high and low speeds. I'm considering Eibachs and maybe a sway bar. But not sure about dumping any $$ into this car that I'm only into temporarily for financial reasons.

The non s x will not let loose, but it's very spongy and floaty as u predicted. And my passengers tell me to slow down BC of the body roll. In my factory tuned volvo and wife's factory non sport, fwd audi A3, less body roll, more confident, less float.

I haven't hiot those 100+ speeds either, but i can attest to a manuver i had to perform the other day, at about 65mph. Travelling on the wy home, on long island main road, an Suve in front of me, so I couldn't see the road ahead, he swerved slightly to the right, and low and behold there's this car bumper part on the left of center in the road. I see it, swerve right and then left, the G37X was "glued' - handled it like a charm. Oh yeah, The Anti-Slip light lite on the dashboard, so the VDC system was working for sure.

I read an article somewhere about Infiniti preparing to enter the Europe market. It mentioned that they had to tune all their cars differently because of the increased speed limit there, where as in the US the focus has always been response under lower speed.

Maybe the X is the issue here. I remember my old 2007 G35 sport coupe. I had that thing up to 130+ and it seemed very stable. It seemed very planted and the steering was very comfortably controllable.
My sedan is another Sport and while it feels much closer to a German car (compliant ride, BMW stiff, comfortable and rock solid chassis) it is definitely not the cornering/high speed monster my old coupe was. I can imagine an X is going to depart from that also.
I do remember driving a 2008 G35x loaner and it definitely didn't seem as fun to drive as my coupe (which is what i had back then). I guess I can't compare directly to the G37s.

You guys are telling the OP to get handling upgrades that have nothing to do with high speed stability.
The question is, why are you driving that fast?
If you want high speed stability, you'll need to make some aero and shock investments.
Based on your impression in corners and bumps, and the cars you have listed in your sig, you need to remember that:
- your G37X has all-season tires
- is sprung much softer
- is made for a luxurious ride, not a performance ride.
By your own admission, you passed up getting summer lower profile tires.

I don't see why you think sways will help with bumps at high speeds. It has to do with the shocks and spring rate, not the weight distribution and transfer associated with steady state cornering.
Good tires will do more for handling than any amount of suspension work.
