Southern Illinois seeing about $3.50 to $3.58 as of last night for the 87 variety. Add about .10 for each grade up.

Hence why I am getting rid of my truck can you say 10.4 MPG of combined driving...I never fill up below half because I don't want to have a heart attack...lol

Honestly though, high gas prices drive innovation and more efficient engines. Considering gas is still considered cheap in the US, we don't have much to complain about.

At 58K, it would take no where near that long. This is not the Roadster.

I drive 25,000 miles a year. I average about 21MPG. That is about 1190 gallons a year. At $4 a gallon, I am spending just under $4800 a year on gas. As the price of gas gets higher, the numbers get even higher.

This is not to mention that you no longer have to perform a lot of the maintenance you do on a gas car, ie oil changes.

The questions for me is more, how reliable are they going to be and what will the real range of the car be? They are claiming up to 300 mile range, but how will speed and electronic devices in the car affect that.

Doubtful at 300 miles. Also while cheaper, your electric bill will definitely go up and you'll hve to include that in your estimate.

Of course. Still as gas goes higher it becomes more and more attractive. Not to mention it is still a nice car with decent performance.

I wonder if they will be able to produce them in any quantity.

The Model S is going to retail for between $56,000 and $78,000 depending on range.

I noticed that, too. During the last price hike I noticed people driving slower and fewer cars on the road, especially on weekends. Not seeing this during this go-around of rising gas prices. Talk about conditioning, huh? It will probably take another buck a gallon to see any change in habits.

It will be around $5 a gallon in the summer, and people will adapt. Some will drive slower and more economically, some will drive less, and some will change vehicles for better MPG. I'm willing to do all but change vehicles. Whenever I take my gf's Sentra for a spin, well, I get to wherever it is I'm going, but the process is pathetic. I get no joy in driving that car, I floor it and NOTHING happens. It is great on gas though, especially in stop ang go traffic like I have in NYC, and you can put 87 octaine.

10' Sentra SR 2.0 --> 12 gallon tank x $3.75 per gallon (87 octaine) = $45
10' G37X --> 20 gallon tank x $4 per gallon (93 octaine) = $80

The range for a full tank on both is about the same with a 50%/50% split of highway/city, and in mostly city driving the Sentra gets more miles per tank than the G

So, financially, the Sentra is Winning!!

seeing as you never drive to empty your prices are little high...average on the sentra would be about 38 and the G about 68..
will 5 bucks change my driving habits i doubt it..it would need to reach about 7 dollars before i would do that.. i was paying way over 110$ a fillup on my truck back in 08..and that was every 4 days..
