Okay finally it happened.
Last week, I went to Asheville NC to visit Biltmore and after i came back out saw this big a** scratch mark driver side door. I was expecting soon or later, but 2 to 3 inches. I tried to use mcguire scratch remover, but didn't work. I think it's pretty deep. Any suggestion on how to get this repaired. Some one said I need to sand it down..

 

If you can feel with your fingernail, chances are it will have to be re-painted. If not, find someone with a buffer and they'll knock it out no problem.

 

I fear the day this happens to my G, hopefully never! I would try to buff it out though. Might not make it perfect but should clean it up a little. That's why I'm afraid to park near anyone...

from the picture it doesnt look bad at all. if you cant see the metal or primer inside those scratches get a orbital buffer from here and take care of it.

Don't freak at all, that can be polished out. You could do it by hand in about 20-30 minutes if you feel like working your *** off - try 2 or 3 passes with scractchx and a foam applicator, or ultimate compound, then swirlx, then a good polishing wax and you should be good to go.

A pro detailer will do something like use a rotary buffer and an aggressive/less aggressive finishing polish compound combo like M105/M205 and then use some sort of very good sealer and then wax on the whole car if you let them, and it will cost you a pretty penny. But it **will** get the scratch gone.

I've moved recently, and I've had lots of things in and out of my car, and I've had an untold number of scratches / rub marks showing up all over the place - most have been coming out pretty well, but some are going to take my buffer and the 2-step process when I get around to it. What I want to know is how to get rid of scratches and marks on the interior plastic without using a heat gun. THOSE are the real bitch.

 

Test - Contact me. I can likely buff that out for you, but would need to see it. It's a side business for me.

 

Once when I was driving down a two lane road a car on the opposite side flipped something up off their tire and it hit my front bumper. Much worse scratch than that. I took a Porter Cable 7424XP to it and it came out easily. You should get one - I use mine quite a bit for polishing/waxing.

Sad to see that happen to our G...These people in NC dont give a rat a$$ when they open the doors and scratch your car (basically most are idiots)...I have live in 8 states, 3 countries and by far NC is the worst when it comes to parking next to your car. Get it to a good detailer in your area and they should be able to get the scratch off...
