2010 G37 Infiniti with Bose - Ipod/Iphone Connection Problem

Hi, I just purchased a used 2010 G37 Infiniti with Bose package. No Navigation System. I have been trying to connect Iphone and Ipod to the USB adapater in the console. The devices will charge but the stereo does not seem to recognize the Iphone/Ipod as a device when i cycle through Aux or Disk. Is that normal? Should I be able to control music through the steering and/or screen on car dash?

Thanks.

Yes you should be able to control everything on the screen. My itouch 4thgen works perfectly on my G. No problems with connection.

I have to trick the system to play pandora/grooveshark/shoutcast on my iphone 4.
It involved a combination of pausing the current song on "ipod" before you plug your phone into system, and some more fiddling, but i didn't have any issue playing music. IOS software for the i-device is extremely picky and each version can have a completely different effect on external device compatibility, i'v noticed.

I think some G37 models had a TSB on this issue. I think you should update your iPhone version to the current 4.2 also if you already haven't.

And oh yea. FYI my Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone 4 sucks. I never use it anymore. People on the other end always can barely hear me.
