It's a shame that many people don't get this concept.

This thread went from, Logically priced second cars ---> LFA and GT-R R R.

Those and their cross shopped cars are not logically priced, although undoubtedly awesome.

 

I got the concept, np there. It doesn't take away form the fact that the 12 GTR is pretty damn special too for the amount of performance & technology for the price, as is the Z06 for that matter.

 

I would cross shop and new fully loaded G and a used GT-R. they're within 10% of each other in price.

I still think one of the most lowkey cars mentioned was Raul's comment about a used NSX. I completely forgot about them. Totally wanted one in high school when a '92 was going for like $30k.

While I mostly agree with you, I believe the GTR is 'special' enough.

In reality, Nissan is only building around 1000 of them per year. Which is alot less than let say Rolls Royce and Bently.

The new 2012 GTR that is coming will be pretty limited too. Each dealer in America will be getting about 3 cars throughout the year. So you sure as hell gotta pre-order one if you want to get it within couple of months.

 

My g35 stays outside in the cold. I would honestly want a Nismo 370z next... so that would be my realistic 2nd car choice.

 

Its special enough for me too. Even an R34 GTR would be awasome to have. However, in AUS, I have not seen many cars depreciate in value like the R35. Around 25-30% loss in the first 12 months with very low miles.

In reality the LF-A are for people who dont understand the concept of saving money. It'll be another toy in the garage, which will eventually make them more money.

 

Hey, no worries. As the OP, this was just aimed to open up some fun discussion. I originally asked for something comparably priced with the G only because I assumed most of us were in that affordability range and wouldn't spend a whole lot more (and probably less) for a side toy. But hey, maybe some of you can actually spin off several more grand for a second fantasy toy. If that's the case, no limits for the more financially fortunate. Again, all for fun and I've really enjoyed the replies and learned a lot about a few other cars out there. We all have one car in common, but beyond that I see many of us really do vary in our tastes.
