Had To Press Remote 5 times to lock doors??

never have experienced this problem before. i have had the car since December 09 and today i went to lock my doors with my remote and the first 5 times i pressed the button it wouldn't make the beep and lock the doors. i walked right next to the car and then it worked the 6 or 7th time. what could of happened. i was not far from the car when i initially tired to lock them in the first place. anyone ever had this problem?

My '05 G sedan had that problem. I had to replace the battery in the key remote. It was easy to replace and the battery cost a few dollars at Wal-Mart. That's what this sounds like to me. There was no dash indicator for the low battery in the '05. Not sure about the newer ones.

but its working fine now and i have tired locking the doors from inside my house and everything works fine. I was told that if the battery is dying it will let you know on the dashboard. so how come when i tired it from 20 feet away tonight it didn't work the first 5 times?

it's probably the battery in your key, doesn't hurt to change the batter, it's not expensive

happened to me, the battery was getting low, so I just changed it and it worked fine ever since, but like it said it can't hurt to change the batteries

since you were far away, the battery may just be too weak to work at that distance until you walked up next to the car. the battery may not be weak enough to trigger the low battery warning on your dash. our key for the M was working intermittently for about a month before it got really bad and the warning came on the dash. it still worked here and there when that happened.

There is an indicator light on your insturment cluster that will tell if the battery is low. If that is not on then it was something else.

Also, the battery will be weaker if it is cold.
