Why do you bother pulling the smart key out of your pocket. Isn't it easier to just tap the button on the door handle?

I have had this problem using the factory remote numerous times. I sometimes have a problem getting the button on the door to work as well. i dont think its the battery I just think its some type of interference. After a couple tries it will work again. The range on the factory remote sucks anyway. I have to have almost perfect line of sight with no obstructions to get it to work form a good distance. My Viper remote on the other hand can start my car from at least a quarter mile away. The factory remotes need better range capabilities.

You heard? From whom?

I'm another that pretty much never takes my key out of my pocket.

Next time you use the car, roll the driver's window down. Then with the engine off, get out of the car and lock the doors by tapping the button on the door handle.
Then reach in through the window and open the door. The alarm should go off.

so today i came back from a going away for a 5 days and i turn my car on drive away then when i get out i go to press the remote to lock the doors and again i had to press the button atleast 3 or 4 times to lock. Then i kept trying to press the button to lock about 30 feet away and once in awhile it would lock and the other times it wouldn't. does this sound like the battery going dead to you guys?
