some kid came by to one of our local meets with a turbo'ed acura TL.... he was so happy he ran a 13.6 in the 1/4 mile...

we just laughed b/c i ran that with my stock G sedan

the TL's were slow fun cars back in its time.

SH-AWD is a turnoff? As opposed to other TL's FWD? For me, the SH-AWD was a selling point, it gave the TL excellent, balanced handling. I did enjoy driving the G more during the test drive, though, so I understand where you're coming from.

I'd be a hater too if I was driving the Rocky Dennis of luxury vehicles.

Quite a few owner's tend to put down other models of cars, in the same class, to justify the car they have.
Usually the owners that rant the most wish they had selected another model car, but try to continually defend their decision to themselves.
I cross shopped the G37 with BMW,Audi ,Lexus and Acura.
Money was not a deciding factor.
The G37 fit my particular needs and taste the most.
I'm happy with my decision and feel no need to slam other model cars. They all have their pluses and minuses.

Agree.

But those guys on acurazine are very, I mean very, defensive about their cars.

ive always loved tl's but never owned one. i like the styling of the new acura and test drove it before i drove a g37 sedan. it only took one look at the spec sheet for the G before i even test drove it to change my mind in favor of the G.

As a long time AZine member I feel duty-bound to inform those of you who may not know that the 4G TL forum over there is full of people so far detached from reality that most of us steer far clear of it. There is actually a lot of love for the G in the Car Talk forum and most of us there have moved on from Acura to either Infiniti, Audi, or BMW....

This is what someone wrote on the forum in response to a post i wrote. can you believe this guy?

I guess the splash guards, wind deflectors, ACURA valve caps and license frames really make his TL stand out in the crowd....
I honestly can't understand why some badgewhores feel the dire need to put down other vehicles. It just makes them look like immatures morons at best.

I'm sure those TL guys have a MAJOR issue every time they see this:
Comparison Test: 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD vs. 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey

I've always liked the TL...at least until the current body style came out. It's so damn ugly that nothing short of a complete redesign can fix it. The 3rd gen TL was a good looking car. It's just a shame they got so ugly after the new generation. The same exact thing happened to the 4Runner....the 4th gen looked good, but the new 5th gen is ugly as sin.

Yes, but as opposed to G's rear-wheel biased AWD system.

I test drove one as well.Beautiful car to cruise on the highway, but felt big and 'disengaging' as I told the sales rep.
Plus it is butt ugly, but the interior detail is amazing (although too many buttons)

Test drove a GxS,and fell in love.

I had a tl as a loaner when my wife's rdx would go in for service.
tl has nice leather, electronics are weak the navi is crap.

sh awd actually is good in bad weather.

I turned in the rdx, the dealer didn't have 1 single customer in the showroom.

a few salesman were commenting on my coupe, comenting on my cf & how sick it looked.
overheard one saying"why don't we have a sports coupe in our line"

answer, because you make fwd that has way to much torqe steer.
