ETA for G37 Redesign?

To all the Infiniti G series experts and aficionados out there, does anyone know when we all might expect a redesign of the G series? Either for the sedan or the coupe? I'm interested in leasing a 2010 or 2011 G soon but am concerned that there might be a redesign in the works for a year or two from now.

Thanks in advance.

probably a year or two. Hybrid and IPL options will probably be pushed to the G sedan.

I'm going ti guess not until 2012 at the very earliest. The 2011 IPL coupe retains the current look for the most part....

2011 are hitting showrooms so you should be good for at the minimum a year or two

I'm guessing 2012 for major body redo.
The first body was 2003-2006
This one is 2007-2011 at least, and one year longer than the first. I def think 2012

My guess is that is will be a more radical version of the current body, with an even more aggressive nose and more pronounced fender swells, and a less rounded butt. Like a more aggressive and curvier version of the M37/57, especially if they use the styling cues from that concept car that was making the circuit not too long ago.

Bet we'll ge more interesting stock headlights, too, some sort of LED design will probably show up....there's too much aftermarket interest that is good, attractive work in that sort of thing, and all the other makers are incorporating them into their new model's lights as day and nightime runners/city lights - audi, porsche, VW, bmw, land rover, Holden, etc.

Japanese cars usually do a complete redesign every four years. If the model is unsuccessful in sales then they work on a new model, which shouldn't happen to the G. But usually every four years. So after 2012 would be my guess.

I agree that Japanese models tend to be redesigned every 4 years or so. However, it has been over 5 years so far since the last redesign of the G. That is, unless you count the "refresh" of the sedan for 2010 a redesign.

2012 MY makes the most sense. The current design is from 2007, so the 2011's are the 5th year of the design.

I agree. 2012 sounds about right. They just had their MMC in 2010.

I'd avoid the 1st year model and buy the 2013 model though.

I would like to think they would probably roll out the redesign until 2013. Why would they change the lineup for only the 2011 model year for the g25? It just doesnt make sense to me for them to add another engine option for one year.

If they didnt plan on using the v36 platform for another couple years why not just introduce the g25 on the next gen sedan?

All they did for the G25 is put in a different engine. Otherwise it is identical to the G37. They needed to do this to compete with BMW and Mercedes as most people really don't need a 300+ HP car. I'm sure they will continue to offer 2 different engine options going forward. What they really need to do is go FI with direct injection and use a smaller displacement engine(maybe back to the old 3.0L days). This would allow them to have a base engine for the masses(no FI) of about 225-250HP and a higher HP engine for us enthusiasts(FI w/ about 330-350HP) while improving fuel economy and engine smoothness.

Im thinking 2013 at the earliest. Definitely not 2012.

The G25 just came straight from Japan where it has been sold for a while...no extra work needed by Nissan (with the exception of some emissions stuff probably).
