Is the G25 going to depreciate the Value of the G series?

I am just curious to know is the new G25 going to depreciate the value of the G series? The G25 with a low price tag, which chances are they will be a hot ticket item, is it likely that this new lower end G is going to hurt the long term value of the G? Curious to know what others may think?

I think that it will DEFINITELY depreciate the value of the G, even the highest optioned car. I was kinda disappointed when I read that Infiniti was releasing the G25. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like the low-end 3 series BMW's, with just about every douche bag driving one.

It will. You won't be able to distinguish the debadged ones. BMW 328 is coming for Infiniti. I will definitely look into something else when the lease is over.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking the G25 will come with a single exhaust tip of a smaller diameter than the G37. If I'm right, that would be one very easy way to tell the difference.

No offense to those guys who have the base model G37, but it already looks like what the G25 will probably look like anyway. Smaller wheels, large tires, and a not so aggressive look. I parked next to a base G37 sedan a while back, same color, and it was like night and day between it and my G37S.

Meanwhile, I was next to a G37S sedan not too long ago, and it looked pretty aggressive, the way all 37s should look IMO. But I digress...

The G25 will do no more damage to the value of the G37 no more than the 328, C300, IS250, and CTS 2.8L do to their respective brands.

So, have some cheese with your whine.

how can it hurt the value of a car that is of a higher value/target and specs? does the 335i appear less valuable because the 328 is less powerful?

G25 is identical to a G37 except for the badging. The G25 will replace the base G37 with the Journey now the base model G37.

I coldn't care less if someone thinks that my car is a G25. I bought my car becuase I like it, not to impress other people.

no it won't

Lots of high-end cars have high-performance and medium-performance versions (BMW 335i vs. 328i, Mercedes C350 vs. C300, Lexis IS350 vs. IS250, Audi S4 vs. A4, etc.). The owners of the high-performance versions don't worry about the medium-performance counterparts somehow "devaluing" their cars. You shouldn't either.

Just my 2 cents

One of the greater advantages that the G series has is that they are not mass marketed. I mean you don't find a G on every street corner. Kinda like the BMW theory. If Infiniti is expecting to sell some 7k (and I don't know what the actual numbers really are,) G25's every month where let's say Infiniti only sells 1k new G37's every month (again I don't know what the actual numbers are,) with more than 70% sales production of a lesser optioned car, doesn't that reduce the value of the G? Making the G more affordable and available to a much broader price point.

Also, let's say that if Infiniti is very successful with this approach, what if they open the G25 line, up to offer a Coupe and a Convertible option? Doesn't that reduce the value? Supply and Demand? Any thoughts?

Don't get me wrong, I love my G and wouldn't trade it for anything. But, 5-10 years from now, what is the value going to look like, when you can find one on every corner.

that's just an assumption though (that they'll sell a lot) and to take a current example.. i see 328s everywhere in the city and very rarely a 335. the perceived value on the 335 actually goes up for me because it's the out of the norm/higher performing bmw model. So if they do sell a million G25s and only 50k G37s then to me the G will look even better/more expensive as it will be more exclusive.

I don't know, but with the new lease deals, it sure seems that just about every douchebag is driving one now
It seems the way that BMW did it is exactly what Infiniti is doing now. Artificially inflating residuals and lowering interest rates in order to move cars. BMW did it that way forever. I remember my sister leased a 328i for 325/ mo and that car was about a 33k sticker price.

The G37 is going to be pricier, dealers will be prepared to give you a better deal on the G25 than the G37, which should help the G37 residuals. Funny enough the G37 sold 5.7k units in July and the 3er sold 8k units, so its very likely you were going to see many units on the road in the future even if the G25 had not come out.

I dont get the exclusivity argument at the G's price point, it simply does not work which explains why I am seeing more G37s these days, especially the 10s.

I could see it helping. People start buying the G25, falling in love with the brand, and in turn wanting to upgrade down the road. It could make people into Infiniti buyers. As long as the quality is high and it is a good car, I can see it helping.
