Invidia Q300 catback vs. Tanabe Medallion axleback

Invidia Q300 catback vs. Tanabe Medallion axleback

for those that have experience with both of these systems (vendors?), what are the pro's & cons of each and why would you choose one over the other? Need some help in deciding what to put on my sedan.....

Ones a catback another's not, so expect better gains with the Invidia

If you're looking for just the sound mufflers are the way to go

I may be the only one that's had both. I'll give you my thoughts even though I have a coupe.

I had the Tanabe axle back only when it first came out. I loved it but it was just a tad too loud for my taste at the time so I sold it. Now I work for myself so it doesn't matter. I often regret getting rid of it. It has a low, throaty, mellow tone. No drone at all while cruising and it's refined and relatively quiet at idle. AT WOT it really growls and sounds exotic IMO.

I got rid of the Tanabe for the Invidia Q300 because as I said the Tanabe was a little too loud under throttle for my job at the time and I wanted a full catback system that replaced the Y and mid pipes. The Invidia Q300 is much quieter. It sounds a lot like the stock system and isn't loud at all, even under WOT it's only slightly louder than stock. No drone at all. Overall I have to say that in retrospect I like the Tanabe sound better, but the Invidia isn't bad.

I had Berk HFC installed with both of these systems. The HFC makes the sound a little bit louder and raspier. There wasn't any noticeable rasp with either, but there is a bit of the "deceleration hiss" because of the HFC. I notice it more with the Invidia than I did the Tanabe. As far as gains, I never had either dynoed. Butt dyno says the gains from either are very slight (at top end,not bottom), not precise enough to pick one over the other.

Overall, I'd recommend the Tanabe. I will probably sell the Invidia sometime soon and get the Tanabe Y, mid pipe, and axle back system again.

Thanks BB....finally got my wires in last night & they look solid. Thanks again.

......so no noticeable difference in butt dyno gains between an axleback (basically just mufflers) and the full dual catback with Xpipe?

This is my daily driver so I don't want it to sound like a fart-canned Accord, but this motor definitely deserves a more agressive/exotic growl vs. how quiet the factory has it set up. Don't want it loud, but do want it to sound more serious and want gains to come with it especially if I'm gonna drop almost $1K.

I didn't do an actual dyno. My butt dyno isn't calibrated well enought to be able to tell the difference between the gains. I'm sure it's relatively minimal.

Neither sounds fart can ricey at all. The Tanabe sounds more exotic for sure. But I know where you'll be able to get a used Invidia Q300 catback for around half price if you're interested. At least sometime soon you'll be able to.

if I had a coupe I'd be pushing for that sale sooner than later.....

ok so, the Tanabe Medallion is just the axleback mufflers....and they have additional sections to create a full system??
