Agree with Blackjack and your father: Buy the rwd and the Audi or other beater for winter... especially if your dad is suggesting it and is willing to help out with the $!

 

If RWD is Cabrio, than on paper it does 0-60 in 6,4 s and the sedan x does 0-60 in 6 seconds ; the RWD sedan could be as slow when starting anyways.

 

Listen to your father Luke. With the money you save not getting the AWD, you should get the sport package. The S makes it a completely different car, no exaggeration. I can't imagine having this car without the upgraded brakes, LSD, steering, and seats.

If you got these results without an error on your part there's something wrong with the RWD car you drove. The RWD is about 200 lbs lighter with more HP at wheels compared to the AWD due to the AWD system.

 

I have a rear wheel drive, and it has poor traction when it rain; some time it has trouble making fast turn without making a scene. If there is any snow fall where I live, I would buy the AWD in a hear beat. Unless you are buying the car for autocross, out in the real world good traction make the car faster, safer. Tire burning and tail sliding is for high school kids.

 

I drove both multiple times before buying the x and it was close enough that I honestly could not notice any difference in acceleration. Both had the 7 speed auto.

The surprising thing, until you really look at the ratios, is that the auto is quite a bit faster from a stop than the manual. I think the fastest to 60 is the AWD 7 speed and the fastest in the quarter is the RWD 7 spd. In real life it's a different story in that the auto can leave you in too high of a gear and the only way to get good accel is to manually downshift.

What I feel that I really gave up getting the xS instead of the S was the upgraded brakes, steering and suspension that come with the RWD S model. Acceleration - wise I don't feel that I gave up much. And I am getting better with the paddles.
