Automatic Locking feature?
Automatic Locking feature?
Hey Guys,
Does the G37 have a automatic locking feature that can be turned on?
I had my ipod stolen from my car last night and nothing was broken to get entry so I must've left the doors open by accident and somebody hit the jackpot. So I was thinking maybe it had a feature that locked the doors automatically after you get a certain distance.
Sincerely,
One really pissed off dude right now!
And they took the stinkin harness, no need for that!

OP, if the car is locked and you hit the unlock button and then do nothing for ~45 seconds the doors should automatically lock again. If you stop the car and forget to lock the doors then you're kind of SOL, you have a remote for a reason -- just always double check that it's locked
not to my knowledge, but there might be a secondary programming.
the convenience locking feature only activates when the car is unlocked without the engine being turned on (armed -> unlocked -> closed the door without turning on the engine = doors locked after 5 minutes)

Last night I was putting some golf clubs in my trunk and I must've also unlocked the doors too and then didn't lock it back, yeah SOL is right. The odds of this happening are thru the roof because I'm really **** about locking my car, a lot of times I'll hit the close button on the door and as I'm walking away hit the fob again to make sure it's closed, so somebody, the one time I didn't lock my car, lucked out and tried my door and took my 2 week old ipod, freakin just my luck. Whoever did it was likely in a rush because he could've had the golf clubs in the trunk and my oakley sunglasses, could've been worse I guess, LOL!
That sucks, man. Hate to hear it. I guess it's good they didn't smash your windows and steal it anyway. Well no, that's not really any consolation either
.
Personally I just got myself in the habit of pressing the door-handle button whenever I get out of the car and then tugging the handle to check. It's an easy habit to get into, only takes a second, and does wonders for peace of mind. Even if it had an auto lock I probably wouldn't trust it.

My C6 Corvette had it standard. I had thought the Infiniti G's system was the same and accidentally left my car unlocked the first night I had it. The car would lock itself when I left the vicinity. Pretty cool feature that i definitely miss (that and the Heads Up Display). The only problem with such a system is that when you drive other people's car and forget to lock their doors. :X
I have a 2010, and if I unlock the doors they re-lock after a minute or two if I don't open a door. I'm sure it was programmed this way for exactly this type of situation.
My IS350 did the same thing - sort of annoying if I was carrying something out and expected an unlocked door.
