Just for the fun of it I took my iPhone w/ PocketDyno and did some runs. *Disclaimer - not sure how accurate the software is, but here goes:
Conditions: 44deg F, 1/2tank gas, VDC off, 7spd in DS (auto mode)
Best 0-60 for the G37x was 5.07secs.
I was able to repeat this time fairly easily almost every run. No power braking, just floor the gas from a stop. Haven't attempted a power brake launch. Interesting note ,the car was consistently slower with the VDC on, didn't attempt to shift myself with DS, figured it would be slower as well.

Slip light on
I have tried to pull my best 0-60 times, I leave my VDC on but seeing the posts above, it will be off starting tomorrow.
Anyway, my concern is on my 08, the slip light would come on when attempting 0-60 but this was towards the time when the brake fluid was low. On my 10xS which has not made it to its 1st service yet, I am seeing the light. The tires & brake fluid cannot be the issue but am just pissed the light is coming on. Am sure switching off the VDC will eliminate the problem, but still this should not be happening.
0-60 in 5s is impressive in X form

Looking back at the logs, first run with VDC on was 0-60: 5.21secs (trans was always in DS auto mode). Not sure why your slip light is staying on, that shouldn't be happening at all. I did notice once during a run the slip light illuminated for a split second during the 1-2 gear change ;-)

For just doing one or two 1/4 mile runs is it necessary to switch to a racing oil or something like that?
One day I'd like to take some lessons or a real loop track experience or something like that -- but with a car that isn't my daily driver. My thinking is a 1/4 mile straightaway has a comparatively pretty low risk of damaging something.
