Question Oil change at 1K miles before road trip?

I've been breaking in my 2010 G37S 6MT sedan over the past few weeks, admittedly goosing the throttle a bit here and there, but mostly being good. I'm at about 920 miles right now and will be taking a road trip over the weekend for ~500 miles round trip. I'm planning to use cruise control on the highway for the most part.

I know some folks recommend an oil change at 1K miles to flush the oil that contains the small metal shavings and such picked up during the break-in. I thought I'd get some feedback here on whether I should try to squeeze one in before heading out of town or whether I should just wait for the first scheduled one at 3,750.

Thoughts?

Just my opinion, but i'd only change the oil if you drove it hard during break-in (which you didn't), just to save you some money. If you're changing it yourself though, go ahead if you want. It can't hurt, right?

Thanks. Yeah, the first oil change is free and I pre-paid for all scheduled maintenance for 4 years/60K miles (including the 60K maintenance), so it shouldn't end up being any cost to me. However, this is a pretty packed week for me so finding time to run up there and get the oil change will be tough. Unless there's overwhelming evidence that it should be done, I may pass on it.

no need for the oil change.

but I'd suggest getting on it a few times during the long drive.
