the one on the left you hold down the dot button and the nav one you have to select "Reset" in the Fuel Economy section.

I re-filled the tank this evening and on a short 50km drive i got around 15-16 mpg (some highway) which is better. I'm wondering if by any chance the dealership used lower quality fuel when filling it up the first time and it could explain the higher mpg? Is that even possible?

Yeah, the low mpg average I saw after my first tank freaked me out. I got my G37 sedan two weeks ago. I reset the mpg level the first day. I just drove it the three miles from work and back each day with a few random errands -- no interstate driving. Lots of starts and stops and I live at the top of a large hill. I also occasionally opened it up for short spurts just for fun and to check it out. At the end of that tank, I showed a 14.5 mpg average. That was difficult for me to see after coming from a fuel economy car. Now I'm on my second tank for a few days -- driving more relaxed and on the interstate occasionally. My average is up to 17 mpg.

Oh and I averaged 28 mpg yesterday from San Diego up to Chino with the cruise control set at 70 mph the entire time I was amazed.

I got 24.7 on my way from Hot Springs AR to Dallas. My average speed for
the trip was 79.8 mph with bursts well above that. Going 70 I typically get about 28.

Okay, so I have an update, First thank you everyone for their suggestions but I believe that the dealer may have used low quality/octane fuel... I went to the Shell the other day and filled u half the tank with 93 octane fuel, since them my MPG went up to 12.2, im slowly seeing better returns on my mileage. Im goin to dry to go as dry as possible and then fill'er up with a full tank of 93 Shell and see what occurs, once again thank you to all...

Of course, don't forget to reset the MPG indicator so you can get a fresh average.

When I was buying my G37 in November 09, my salesman at Sewell Infiniti in Dallas took the G37 I was test-driving around the back of the building to put some gas in it. I was in the car, and there was this old gas pump and it was clearly marked with 87 octane. He put in about 1/3rd tank.

I questioned the use of 87/regular when 91 was required, and he said that all their cars can run on 87 without problems - and that was the gas they used for all gas needs on the lot - new and used. He also said their dealers were allowed to drive "dealer demos" for six months, and that included free gas for them - the 87 octane stuff. They sell their demos as new (untitled) cars once they get about 6,000 miles on them.

I declined my "free" tank of gas on delivery!

Idling the engine with no travel kills the MPG, so does a lot of cold starts, and of course, getting after it.

Get on a long, straight road, get up to 40-50 MPH and engage the cruise control. Reset the MPG counter, drive a few miles and enjoy the high readings. Then, drive with a goal (for a few days) of trying to keep it over 20 MPG average. It's fun until you romp on it and blow the average...

First off, there's nothing wrong with your car. The MPG will improve slightly, but don't expect any miracles. It's all got to do with where you live and where you drive. I live in NY, so I get about 11-12 MPG because there is a stop sign or a light every other block. When I first got it I used to get 10. When I drive in NJ, I get 17-19 MPG. Longer intervals between stops. On the highway... 24-26 MPG. It's all about where you drive.
This car sucks gas, and you will get used to it and eventually get over it because it is just so much fun to drive it.
