This explains it pretty well: Tire Tech Information - Match Mounting to Enhance Tire & Wheel Uniformity
Cliff's Notes: It's for match mounting. That is, the wheel and the tire is balanced separately to identify the high point of the wheel and low point of the tire for matching them up the best way possible, which minimizes use of wheel weights.
This all goes out the window when you replace the tires and the guy in the shop throws a new set on there and grossly balances them to the nearest 15-20 grams or so.
OP: Sorry to thread hijack. Beautiful interior!

BTW, your tire balancing doesn't go out the window if you use a road force balancing shop. Any shop with a road force balance machine and a person who knows how to operate it will do the same job as the factory. Don't be freaking people out.
Love it. It is just a bit more forgiving than my G37 coupe was .. I think it is the 18" wheels vs. my coupe's 19" wheels. But I don't think it is giving much up in handling prowess. The tire widths front/rear are the same staggered set up as my coupe had and the suspension basically feels the same.
The new computer (I have the navigation package) is much higher resolution in all areas and displays album covers from my iPod. The response time is slower than my old coupe, probably due to the higher resolution graphics. One welcome deletion is the stupid legal agreement on the Navi. It is completely gone, the navi just comes up with the map now. It still has moving vehicle lock-outs, so boo, but at least I don't have to press OK every time I drive my car.
Some cheap outs compared to my last G37:
1. Plastic tire valve covers in the '10 vs. metal in the '08
2. Compass deleted from mirror
3. Power lumbar gone from driver's seat, replaced with a lever like my old 2000 Mitsubishi Galant.
So far I'm happy with the car. I loved my 6MT but that clutch is absolute garbage in these cars. The 7AT is not quite as involving but no more tractor clutch!

Your detail looks awesome!...did the same thing this weekend. Did you use a buffer for your polish? or by hand?
And btw...used Meg Ult. Quik Wax for the first time this weekend...awesome stuff...think I'll use it instead of detailing spray from now on...
Too funny...I just traded my 08 coupe for about the same reason...and bought a black sedan...only diff is mine is an X...because of NE winters. I don't miss the compass in the mirror...and once I set the lumbar I pretty much leave it...so that omission wasn't a biggie for me.

"Quik Wax" is roughly equivalent to Zaino Z-8. I've been using that for awhile now -- it does work rather well. I use it to add shine though -- not remove dust. The quick detailers are, IMO, still more lubricating and thus safer for removing dust, etc. Plus the Z8 is more expensive per ounce.
I should mention that the biggest reason I traded was because I have custody of my 8 year old boy now and we're expecting a baby in July. The coupe is already a bother and in July would be even worse. But yeah, those other reasons, too

I'm already seeing minor signs of a seat bubble in the new sedan. No wallet or anything, just my bony rear. These seats don't wear all that well, IMO. But the stone will show it less than the graphite did
Navigation equipped cars used to have the compass in the mirror. My 08 Coupe did.
They changed the deep brown dash that was in the Wheat interior to this color and then also decided to change the Stone dash from black to this color too. They did it to make it meld better and look a bit more upscale. The Stone with black dash was more sporty looking than this.
Personally I thought the Stone with Black dash was even sportier than the graphite interior in some ways due to the stark contrast but that was just my opinion.
Can't say whether I like the new Stone dash better or not, but it accomplishes the effect they were looking for.
I would describe the new Stone/Wheat dash color as being a "Taupe Gray". I think it's kind of like the color Taupe Gray shown in this wiki page: Taupe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
By that I mean it seems to look a bit brownish in certain lights (although not nearly as brown as the brown for the old Wheat dash). However, in other lights it looks more gray.

Force variance balances are usually done when a problem is detected that cannot be otherwise resolved. If you found a shop that only uses this type of balancing, rejoice and never use anyone else.
buffer was Porter Cable PC7424.

I've read a lot about that buffer...and saw the vids on youtube etc....but how easy is it to use? really...and is it mostly idiot proof?
I've been detailing/waxing by hand for longer than I care to mention...but this machine is tempting. I get how it's used on broad surfaces but how about tight areas and around door handles and all the places that the pad doesn't quite fit?
Understood about quik wax vs. detailer and the cleaning/lubrication value of the detailer. I don't typically use anything without a wash...so thinking that many times instead of detailer I'll use the quik wax...it's certainly easy!

I like the PC7424. It is really easy to use once you get the hang of it. Basically you just need to keep a little distance between the pad and anything you don't want to bang up against -- mirror, door handle, etc -- and you are good to go. For those tight areas where the pads won't fit, you can do those by hand. The results from the machine in a few hours are like a couple of weekends of by-hand work, especially if you are doing any kind of scratch/swirl/spot removal/paint prep like I was on this initial detail. I highly recommend picking one up along with maybe a Menzerna finishing polish
I love the Stone interior, but I am terrified that my kids would change its color rather quickly.
I was able to see the Stone interior with Ashwood accents at my local dealer. Nice combination, I'll have to call back and source the Ashwood accents.

Mal - I too maybe trading in my 08 coupe for the 10 Sedan. I have MT 6spd too in the coupe but was thinking of maybe going Auto. My 08 coupe was my first MT and though it took some time to get used to it, I do like the MT.
My question to you: Is the Auto sufficent enough? Does it still have that sport feel though you have paddle shifters and DS mode. I am just wondering because I am torn between getting another MT or Auto before I look around for the sedan. Manuals are hard to find right now in my area, and i was told from two dealers, don't expect any manual sedans no time soon unless I order one.

It also shifts A LOT...and is always seeking to maximize mileage so it can tend to be in too high of a gear at times...of course you have paddles and the DS mode which mitigates that to some degree.
If you test drive the auto make sure you get on some roads that are around low 40 mph and just let it lope along you'll see what I mean. Make sure you drive it around enough to really experience the difference
I didn't care for the manual (even though it was fun at times) I found it difficult to drive smoothly especially if you weren't paying close attention.
It's pretty well documented that the MT is not all it could or should be in a car at this level.
If you enjoy the manual and feel like you would miss it you probably will.
Not sure about the resale value of a SEDAN MT...if someone's looking for a sedan it seems unusual that they wold also want an MT...in general terms of course....IMHO
